If so, what does it say? If not, and you were to get one, what would it say, keeping in mind the spaces allowed on plates in your area.

Just read this online in the news....remarks from DMV

"Your vanity plate says 'MUG ME.'" Personalized license plates might seem like a harmless accessory, but they could make you a more likely target for criminals. Why? Because they communicate much more than the written message. "Personalized plates indicate that the person bearing them wants to be noticed," says Phil Messina, a retired New York City police officer and founder of a self-defense school in Lindenhurst, N.Y. "The downside of doing things that tend to 'get you noticed' is that they can get you noticed by the wrong kind of people."

Consumer advocate Tim Duffy agrees, pointing out that plates indicating the driver is a woman or a senior citizen or both -- as in "Katie's Grandma" -- are especially problematic. Spotting one of these plates in a parking lot, a mugger may hide behind or near the car, waiting for the driver to return. "You don't want to be a victim of a crime," Duffy says, "and you don't want to make it easier for someone to commit a crime."

If I had one it would be something like: BuTFLWREK

I did have a front license plate on my vehicle for several years, not the state license plate but a personalized plate, "Classy Chassie".

I've gone from a Classy Chasis to a Beautiful Wreck.....:)

the final personalised plates i've got seen belong to an lawyer with an astounding humorousness...... SHYSTER. The runner up is LIBSDAVE (properly, i would be, it is Dave). i've got seen a great style of smart plates...and a great style of quite "uncreative" plates. individually, i might never have personalised plates...it would desire to be a "pastime hazard" for me...i'm a private Investigator. Kinda puzzling to be inconspicuous if my plates have been PI GRL. :) related to cost... personalised plates often run approximately $50-one hundred extra suitable than known plates, finding on your area. Many states additionally furnish "somewhat professional" plates that earnings charities (maximum cancers examine, family individuals violence prevention, etc) or identity the owner as a member of a set/corporation, etc. (Masonic motel, Disabled Veteran, etc).

Great minds think alike. I almost ask this question the other day but was going to phrase it-if you can afford it do you have a vanity plate- I don't but I did cough up the extra money for my youngest daughter to get one for her first car--she got the state fishing plate.

I don't have one, because I have a new bright idea every day about what would be clever. When I was working two jobs for 15 years, I thought about IB1BZB. We thought about having two plates, his would say GUYS, mine would say DOLLS.

We saw a clever pairing in Philadelphia once. The Cadillac said "Joe" and the VW parked behind it said "Joe Jr"

Bob just got his handicapped plates, and when we went to turn in the old ones, the lady at the window at DMV had us wait "for a receipt," and eventually returned to the window to tell us we were "OK to go" (no receipt!).

A friend who works for DMV said she was checking to see if the plates had been stolen.

Yes I do. On my car is "DAN GOOD" and my motorcycle is "DE GOOD" ! I had the latter when Calif could only have 6 digits on the plate and had that one on my car. Then I got the 7 digit one when they changed and had it put on the car and had them make a little one for the Motorcycle. The DMV really had to work to find out how to do that. ;+)

Some people think it's strange to have my name on my vehicles but I have no problem with it. My dad had "ME GOOD" and my mom had "MA GOOD" which is thei initials, too. My brother had "BUENO1"

My favorite one is "3M TA3" LOL

BTW, the extra money that it costs goes to a good cause. Here, they are called "Environmental Plates"

I just bought a 1956 Ford Fairlane and my husband is going to fix it up to be my retirement car. I'm trying to decide whether to get personalized plates or 1956 plates. If I get personalized plates, I can't decide what to put on them. Any ideas?

No its the cars proper numbers but my son had another set made up with Tanglehar Bobtails under the numbers, and a small pic of 2 Old English Sheepdogs at the start of them. I have had a lot of people ask me where to get them and can they get their breed. I love them and they are so unusal.

I just read that a vanity plate may reveal information about you to a mugger or thief. I don't have them because of the cost (but if I did, it would say "GLADYS"). But I never thought about this. Read item number 9 of this article.
