Jehovah's Witnesses believe that only 144,000 will go to heaven, and the rest of humanity that survives Armageddon, along with millions who have died and are then resurrected, will live on a paradise Earth. They also believe that the 144,000 have all been chosen since 33AD, when Jesus was put to death, rose again and ascended to heaven.

However, Genesis 5:24 informs us that "Enoch walked with God, and he was no more, for God took him", while 2Kings2:11 in part says that "Elijah went up by a whirwind into heaven". Hebrews 11:5 says that "By faith Enoch was translated, that he should not see death". These scriptures seem to indicate that both Enoch and Elijah went to heaven which, according to Witness doctrine, is not possible. I am aware that Hebrews 11:39 goes on to say that the faithful men of old "received not the promise", presumably heavenly life but nowhere does it say that they will not receive it.

Any comments?

Many of the answers about santa's suit colors mention coke in the 1930's. However, in the famous poem "Twas the night before Christmas" published in 1912! we have a description of Santa as a "right jolly old elf" and the first illustrations were of him in a red suit?

I seek mental health counseling, & my bible class is far away from where I live & I don't have a car to get there. My counselor suggested that I go to a church nearby my house, even if I don't believe in it-& try to surround myself near more positive people. I don't feel comfortable with that.

But in reality, they don't give a DAMN about you? My Spanish professor pretends to understand my disability but then goes behind my back & complains that I'm lazy & come to class when I want. Not true. I have medical documents to prove it & she doesn't wanna see it. & then the other students tried to butt in my business & throw my absences in my face & use it against me. I don't owe another student an answer for my absences-I was in the hospital because of a mental health issue & my professor is making my issues worse by being fake & evil.

An old friend of mine told me that when he was a child, he was visited by aliens in the jungles of Panama. He said they extracted something from the back of his head and to my horror showed me the indention. This is a man who is very honest and will tell you when he's joking... but he was dead serious. He's made a believer out of me, and I was wondering if anybody else has a similar story?

I imagine people are like houses. Theists start with a completely different foundation (technically) than atheists do. Even two theists can have drastically different foundations. Yet we still manage to build amazingly compatable "fronts" which allow us to buy groceries from eachother, etc...
I just find it interesting... are people with different foundations genuinely THAT different, and they simply adapt to society, or are people THAT similar that they can interact despite the opposing indoctrinations.

Christians, how many times have you professionally interacted with someone whom you think deserves eternal torture?

Every body is asked at christmas time to give money to different charities ie children in need etc but wouldnt it be nice just to slip a fiver or a tenner into an old age pensioners hand and just say merry christmas ,.you know the little old man or woman you see on the bus or hobbling down the street who looks like he could do with cheering up .A total stranger of any race or creed. You wont miss it but youll feel good. as it is better to give than recieve.and you might just bring a little happiness into this miserable world,.

Being reported and having your account suspended or having someone who disagrees with you, troll you, stalk you, harrass you, have their friends target you and ridicule you in each question you ask until you are ready to delete your own account?

This is why I ask if everyone is welcome here (my last question). So a person may not be a report troll but can be a troll nonetheless? Or does that person justify that kind of harrassment as "having a different opinion"?

Seriously, what's the big deal? It's not like Christ was a bad guy. What is so horrible about celebrating his birthday? Why do adults have to throw legal temper tantrums to take away the lights and songs for children? Why cry and get offended? Aren't there better things in this world to worry about? Are you that bored?
O.K., so you don't believe in Christ. So what? Why is it so hard for some people just to walk by? Why is it so terrible that a city puts up a Christmas tree? Or an employee somewhere says, 'merry Christmas?' Are these the same people who couldn't get Howard Stearn off the air? (I am NOT a fan)
Let the lights shine. Put up the decorations, remember what Christ did. Not who his daddy was. Why is that so hard?
Maybe it's my over tolerant pagan mind, but I just don't see the big deal.

I have heard the were written by communities, rather than individuals, and over 100 years after christ was supposed to have died. also is there any firm evidence that jesus really did live and annoy the romans, from the romans perspective? that confirm his miricles rather than the fact he was some sort of teacher or spiritual leader.

God said that people who will not forgive others for what they did, will not enter the kingdom of heaven. But also blaspemy is an unforgivably sin??

If he loved us so much, then while he was creating each of us that will never go to heaven still create us, knowing that he is only creating us for us to die and go to hell??? why?

why does he say that adulterers, liers, haters, theives, and every other sin people commit will not enter the kingdom, When christians still sin everyday.?? but they ARE going to heavan??
