Okay cute...However the only person hung up is you right now. Yes racism exist but it is by and through ignorance and I don't respond to it. My family has white people in it and native americans so does that make me black or white or native American what am ? The truth is, it does not matter! Hate is hate and ignorance is what it is too. You don't attack it or join in on that old bandwagon. The bible says with love and kindness have I draw thee look to the higher call. Be you and be all you can be forget bias people. This play on the word "colored" has been used a million times. But I doubt it has ever actually changed the mind of a genuine racist.
Racism is about hate and ignorance - you're not going to enlighten anyone with a simple play on words and a denouncement of racism.

If you really want to combat racism, you have to focus on spreading love, tolerance, and information. Don't hate the haters, or you just fall into their same prison - instead, pity them and try to help them see. Racists may be poopheads, but they are still people - you need to be able to see them as whole, complex people if you want them to see you as a whole person too.

I disagree that this puts down white people, it is making fun of RACIST white people. I thought it was funny. I wouldn't have laughed had it been a racist joke. :)
I personally have not encountered any racist people but that does not mean that they do not exist! Racists always try to feel superior by using degrading language at least your story was light-hearted. Try letting Tara J read this for a few laughs.
However this joke has the nature of offending all whites and not just racists. It's a bit strong...

This reminds me of my friend. He is currently dating a half black half white girl. Before this, he was racist to many and frequently used racist remarks, but he said he was only joking around. Now that he has met this girl, he loves/likes her a lot that he claims he has changed, but that may just be the hormones talking. So during one of our conversations, I asked him if he's okay with dating a black girl, since he used to use many racist remarks against blacks and other minorities. He responded with: but she's half white too, as if he's still ashamed of the black part in her. He emphasized that she's half white many many times that I think he's in denial. I then asked him if he sees how he's being a hypocrite and how he's not changed at all, and how he's still valuing and ranking races based on his idea of status and social class. He just got irritated and said if you don't agree/support me then maybe we're not friends anymore.

I think you have a chip on your shoulder. Do you not realise that black/coloured Asian Chinese etc are in fact just a racist as anyone else> I agree that racism is bad but do not brand all whites as racist on the grounds that races are not. The racist plea is often used by some people (not all by any means ) to
cover up their own inadequacies. In UK it is often a class argument as well

I agree, a persons colour should not matter. My neighbour is coloured a Muslim he runs a shop. When his son got drunk one night he and his mates were fighting around my car throwing bottles at one another. When i asked them to stop the father came up to me and told me to clear off if they want to fight they can tough on my car he said. He also told me if i call the police he will say i called him a black ba----- and take me to court for discrimination, he also said has he is black he'd get away with it. would you love or hate him if he was living by you? He also told me for a tenner he could get a smack head to have me done if i caused a fuss, i am almost 60yrs and that's my coloured neighbour.
