I seek mental health counseling, & my bible class is far away from where I live & I don't have a car to get there. My counselor suggested that I go to a church nearby my house, even if I don't believe in it-& try to surround myself near more positive people. I don't feel comfortable with that.

if you need mental help then you need to see someone who's about that kind of stuff..all a church is going to say is put more faith in god, or god will help you, and basically do nothing...

I believe that your couselor is wrong. You should go to your own church. If there was one closer that you enjoyed, that would be something else, but since you have not found a close by church you like, I would not go to a church just because it is close. Is there anyway that you can let your church know that you have a hard time getting there because you don't have a car. I go to a very small church but we are able to work together to get everyone a ride to church and bible study. Hopefully your church can do the same.

Surrounding yourself with positive people is a good thing, but since you already have positive people at your own church, I would continue going there.

God probably has put you where he thinks you will get the most benefits. I hope people at your church can help with the rides.

I would not suggest going to a church in which you do not belive in what they believe there may be a good reason that you have like you believe in the truth and they do not so I do think that it would be good to get counseling but going to your own Bible class would be good I'm sure there is someone that goes there that would be glad to pick you up and take you all you have to do is ask.

Often, when we're in need of mental health counselling, we don't feel comfortable anywhere. It is probably better to get help close to home and feel a bit uncomfortable than to get no help at all.

Give it a try. Feeling uncomfortable for a while won't hurt, and you might find that after a few visits to the nearby church, you'll begin to feel comfortable.

Well positive people come in different religions, orientations, race. And if ya don't feel comfortable with that, I would seek some online support forums or a site that can relate to your condition and the things associated with it.

I wouldn't go to a church that misleads people on the Word of God either, just because it's there. That will surely do you more harm than good.

Go to the website below, click on the state you are living in, then just scroll down to you find one in the town that you are in or one closet by.

If nothing else, get yourself a King James Bible and read the book of Philippians. This book of the Bible is God's counsel on mental health.

"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones." Proverbs 3:5-7

If need be, call your pastor's wife and ask her to pick you up and bring you to church. If you were a man, then I would say call your pastor and ask him to pick you up. I say this for testimony sake.

Hope this helps:)

Religion SHOULD be a social gathering for people to feel accepted no mater what their views. If your religion does not accept everyone regardless of thier views then you do need counseling not religion. Go where people will accept you. If you can only be with people who support your narrow viewpoint then you are in trouble.

If you're seeking mental health counselling go see a professional.A bible class or church would be of no use to you whatsoever.

the answer to this doesn't come from me, but from God. simply, pray over it and if you open your heart in prayer, God will reply.

if i could give any advice since you do not wish to seek a new church, call your pastor and see if something can be arranged with someone giving you rides. if that is not possible, ask your pastor for a good reference to a church closer to where you work.
