I asked why, if God is so loving and merciful, He ordered Joshua and the Israelites to murder so many children.

A Christian answered that the fact is, God is not loving and merciful. It seems to me that from a Christian point of view, this is the only answer that makes sense.

If you agree with this, does it bother you to serve a wrathful God because you fear Him?

If you disagree, how do explain the events in the Book of Joshua? Remember that God told them to leave no one alive (except girls who had not yet known a man), so they had to have killed infants and children too young to have knowingly angered God.

I believe God has clued me in to a few things and i wish to share them with you because i feel he wants me to.
1. The devil is not bad he is sacrificing himself to do Gods bidding because he loves God so much.
2. God only cares about what is in our hearts. he like the rest of us only wants someone who will truly love him not for what he can do but for who he is.
3. Do not worry about good and evil but do what is right and not wrong for in doing the right thing you are doing good.
4. Dont blame God for all the bad things that happen. You have the power to change the world and he is waiting to see what you do.
5. He is a God of nature and uses it to punish our enemies. He waits for the right scenerios to act that why we must wait so long. I.E. the volcanic eruption that brought about the plagues on the egyptions that got his followers freed.
There is more but i am out of room. What do you think?

I cant wrap my head around people who do that, I was wondering if there was anyone here who believes things like "AIDS is Gods punishment for being gay", or that the iraq war was punishment for whatever, and those people who stood outside the funerals with signs that say "thank god for dead soldiers", or those people who bomb abortion clinics.... anyone think any of those things are a good idea? I would really like to hear the mentality behind that.... or does anyone know a website that acutally supports that kind of stuff?

In one of our youth group meetings we discussed how we should be happy that Jesus died for our sins and gave us the gift of salvation, but when I think about that I feel sad and unworthy. Knowing that someone went through that because of me makes me feel AWFUL about myself knowing that I received something I will never deserve. Is there something wrong with the way I think?

Christians: When you picture in your mind a fellow Christian judging others - a clear defiance of Jesus' words, do you feel some kind of a repulsion?
You know, like similar to when people "squirm" up at the sound of nails on a chalkboard?
Do you feel like maybe some of that feeling could be a spiritual feeling, like your heart is telling you that it is wrong?

Thanks :)

I've thought about this question since I was 6 or 7. Would anything change at all if all the Christians in the world prayed for Satan?

I've actually prayed for him a couple times when I was little, and I've stopped doing it, because the more I learn about the Bible, the more it seems like his destiny is sealed. But I still can't help thinking that it just might make a difference.

If God made the world, who made God ?

I was born in a small village many years ago. We lived as our ancestors taught us to live, fishing the river and hunting the land. The life was difficult, but we worshipped the gods of our fathers and we worked hard. The elders of our village taught us to treat others with kindness. I took this teaching to heart even if I noticed that some others did not. But I did not judge them. After all, I am not perfect. But even so, I tried my best to do what was right and loved those around me. I gave all that I had to everyone who asked of me. After I had become a man I was walking by the river one day. Another man of our village was fishing in the river. He was considered to be a bad man by the people of my village. He lied and cheated others. I noticed that he was drowning. Without hesitation, I swam out to help him. I was able to get close enough to shore to save him. But the current took me. I died to save another. Where do I stand before the Christian God?

There is no greater love...

Can you please pray that God shows me what I need to do in regards to custody of my 13 year old son, and that God keeps my son strong, mentally and physically, so he can get through some of the challenges that are present in his life, and that my ex-husband will truly consider what is best for our son from this point forward? This has been an ongoing struggle for several years, and I feel a major intervention is needed. I thank you in advance for your help!
