Where do you live in Ireland?
I was in Ireland this summer and we saw loads and I would like to add that we did not have any amber nectar to see them!
I think its peoples beliefs in the little people and the old ways for Leprechauns to suffer discrimination in the 21st Century.
My Grandad use to tell me lots of stories about Leprechauns and I still believe in them.

I dont know but they can come in dreams. I am not Irish but I have drempt of them bringing me a scroll written upon which was the life story and the date of death and how the person was to die. This came to pass twice.
I knew if I could catch one and give back the scroll the event leading to the deaths would not happen.

the poor leprechauns, you know for the cost of a cup of coffee you could cloth and feed a leprechaun for a day. will even send you a picture of the one your helping, so act now and you could make a difference.

Unfortunately yeah they still do!
Every so often you'll hear about an unprovoked attack where some poor leprechaun is mugged for his lucky charms. Or their shops get broken into and they have all their shamrocks stolen

Unfortunately, yes they do. These magical icons of Irish lore are abused miserably every March 17th!

Yes, they have gone into hiding, and only come out when you try to steal from their pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
Or when you try to steal their lucky charms
