I know that most of us were raised with having a Christmas tree since we were kids and it may be hard to believe that God doesn't want us to have them. I read in KJV this
Jeremiah 10:2 KJV Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. 3* For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. 4* They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. 5 They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good.

To Me it sounds that God does not want us to have Christmas trees in the above passage. I believe that it's a Pagan tradition what are your thoughts on this??? Am I looking at it the wrong way??? Let me know what you believe Thanks!!!

No matter what your beliefs are, asume for a moment that reincarnation was possible and you could live one more life, without remembering this one, just like you live now. Do you think life is beautiful enough, to be worth to live one more? Would you chose to do it, or is this life enough for you?

Now here's another one, put your thinking caps on. If human behavior is a result of evolution, and according to evolution things improve overtime, then why aren't humans peaceful loving creatures?

If not then, wouldn't you be implying that some people evolve to be violent and cruel? Do you excuse such behaviors as an mutation? Will man evolve to be loving? If man is not concern about his fellow man, and despite this improves his social conditions and of those around him, why can't his attitude evolve too? Who says that only being nice is good for the betterment of man. Why can't being cruel be good for the betterment of man. Doesn't being nice hold back human evolution?

No emotional answers please, only logical ones.

The 1st test of canonicity for a New Testament book of the Bible is that the book had to be written or backed by an apostle. In other words, it had to have an apostolic signature or apostolic authorization.
The authorship of Hebrews is uncertain, dating between 64 and 68 AD. Suggestions of the author include Paul, Barnabas, Apollos, Silas, Aquila and Priscilla, and Clement of Rome. Nevertheless, no one is certain of who the author of Hebrews was.
My question is, how and when was Hebrews included in Biblical canon.

Incidentally, I love Hebrews...one of the most wonderful books about faith in the New Testament! My question is of a historical nature. I have no ulterior motive to bring the Book of Hebrews into question.

Having been agnostic and atheist, I recall a certain self-awareness that I was smarter than people still naïve and deluded enough to believe religious claims. I see a lot of that here at R&S. I am interested in how people experience this sensation and to what extent it informs the current Zeitgeist. Anything you’re willing to share would be greatly appreciated. The questions:

Do you feel this way about yourself? Have you ever doubted this about yourself?

How has it affected your life?

Do your friends feel this way about themselves?

Does it feel liberating? Or does it feel more like a burden?

I consider my land lady my friend and I am extremely greatful for her for taking me and my family in. She just returned from a month-long hospital stay out-of-state to diagnose her illness. She's on medication that doesn't sit well with her so she's ill all the time. Obviously food is out of the question. I don't think I want to get ther flowers either. Not only are they a little impersonal, but the smell may make her sick. My "thing" has always been angels. I get everyone I love one for most holidays. Is a special engraved angel ornament or an angel pin appropriate? Faith isn't an issue as far as offending her.... Any other suggestions? How do I get it to her without making her feel like she has to come out and greet me? (She pretty much stays home.)

That's come up a lot around me lately. My wife and I (I'm female) kissed goodbye at the airport, and some woman demanded that we stop, saying, "How do I explain that to my kids?" (Kids were more interested in the vending machines!) Witches and atheists of my acquaintance have had people get mad at them and ask them that same question. Columns on ENDA feature that argument: "How do you explain their teacher's picture of another man on his desk or what looks like a man in a dress to children?"

I guess I'm just wondering what's so terrible about having to explain things to children. I mean, there are wars and natural disasters--those lead to hard questions, right? Not somebody who's just plain different? Frankly, my wife and I think if our affection leads to the hardest question a child's ever asked, that child and her family are leading a pretty decent life.

Someone please help me get it.

I have a co-worker in a finance dept who continously addresses my boss and I as "both" in her e-mails. It can get annoying, but then again her whole message has typos and very bad grammer. She is from Vietnam so I don't know if that may have something to do it. But I wanted to know if I should address her and let her know I would prefer her to use my name and my boss' name instead of "both".

about him and laid his hands upon you and healed all of your infirmities and regrew all the missing parts of your body internally as well as externally. Your physique regressed to that 20, 30, or 40 years earlier and you were in your 50's, 60's or 70's, would you tout him as the second coming? Or:
A) Have him arrested for healing without a license?
B) Go about your life as before?
C) Lead a healthier life than you have been living?
D) Forget about it?

With regard to the Bible and, in particular, to the subject of abortion and respect for children and the unborn, how do Christians reconcile the fact that all human life is held as being sacred when the same Bible lists case after case of incidents wherein hundreds and often thousands have been slaughtered in mass killings which were commanded by ‘God’ as ‘righteous’ punishments for their various alleged ‘sins’.

Remembering the fact that thousands of definitely innocent men, women and children were caught in these massacres, how can the Church claim any sort of moral authority whatsoever given the record of their ‘God’ in his bloodthirsty and cruel dealings with His ‘created’ humankind?
