That's come up a lot around me lately. My wife and I (I'm female) kissed goodbye at the airport, and some woman demanded that we stop, saying, "How do I explain that to my kids?" (Kids were more interested in the vending machines!) Witches and atheists of my acquaintance have had people get mad at them and ask them that same question. Columns on ENDA feature that argument: "How do you explain their teacher's picture of another man on his desk or what looks like a man in a dress to children?"

I guess I'm just wondering what's so terrible about having to explain things to children. I mean, there are wars and natural disasters--those lead to hard questions, right? Not somebody who's just plain different? Frankly, my wife and I think if our affection leads to the hardest question a child's ever asked, that child and her family are leading a pretty decent life.

Someone please help me get it.

I love how those same people generally do not have any great worry over how they are "supposed to explain to their children" why some children have to go to be hungry, why some little children get blown to pieces by the US military, why all the adults for the past several generations have allowed unrestrained polluting of the environment, why the leaders of the worlds nations spend so much time talking about killing people and other questions that I remember being truly bothered by as a child.

there is no longer something incorrect with it in my strategies. i think interior the capability of decision, which many human beings refuse to apply. many human beings have self assurance that its only 1 thing you do ever considering which you have been a baby. You bypass to college, get a role, get married, come out some babies, and you die. Now to furnish you a extra useful occasion, i will tell my view on existence. in keeping with possibility this could help clarify a number of the animosity your getting. My view on the meaning of existence is to unfold my DNA. completed. human beings truly shouldn't care in case you no longer have babies, and to no longer be recommend, yet its meant to lead them to sense extra useful because of the fact there is way less opposition for them (than back, assuming your a female that does decrease it for adult men thinking too lots now). regardless of if it additionally could merely be straightforward jealousy which you're able to make a decision like that for your self. no person will particularly be attentive to.

I don't get it. They are the one that hids things from their kids and they they at a loss when the kids don't know what's going on.

I've found that kids today are exposed to lots of situations that I was never aware of when I was a kid and they are fine at understanding them and adapting to them.

I remember the first time my daughter noticed that one of her friends had two mommies and she asked us why. That's exactly what she asked, "How come so-and-so has two moms?" and we said because that's the way their family is and he just said, "Oh" and that was it.

Children have all sorts of tough questions. Its just a part of life. Who cares what other people think. No matter what, in society today children are going to see homosexual couples and obviously have questions. I just hope the parents are open to being un-biased when the questions arise.

"Why try to shield it from them? They're going to find out about homosexuality soon enough anyway, so why not explain that to them at an early age, and hopefully they can be more understanding/informed/tolerant and less ignorant and hateful than you?"

I always tell kids that "They just wanted to marry a man/woman instead of a man/woman, and they're happier that way." No biggie.

But straight and gay folks might keep the PDA tasteful in public places please.

Nothing wrong. Kids are full of questions. And it's better that they hear it from you rather than their friends, right?
