...Christianity not being a unique religion, but a blend between many older pagan ones?

(This is not a bashing question. I´m interested in finding out about the feelings on this fact)

LOL I find the lack of knowledge very amusing.

Maybe the Christians should actually check out their religion. Sabbath is on SUNday because it was moved from Saturday to bring in the Sun worshipers.

Check out the Council of Nicaea..it was what adopted pagan rituals, icons, etc to make a united religion for the Roman Empire in Christianity...and ALL christian beliefs are based in the results of that council.

Even the idea that an individual was God is not new....the Egyptians had that belief in their pharaoh long before Christians.

Now the whole Trintiy thing I think was a new one, but then again there are multiple Christian religions..so not so unique after all

So like every other religion Christianity is unique in it's own twists but common as every other religion has same basic concepts....good vs bad....good is better, etc

Christianity is unique in many sense

There is no blend of older pagan ones in Christianity
How does one know for sure? Pick up a New International Version of Bible and give it a read to find out more for yourself. The Word of God will most definitely speak to you on this matter

Is Christianity the blend or the source of those various pagan religions?
For example, the Sumerian Epic of Gilgamesh tells of a great flood but how would they know of that unless the stories of Noah were passed down thru the ages

It is very possible that Christianity is a blend of older pagan religions. I'm in the process of studying some of that at this time. Religions are very interesting, all of them. Good luck. 2D

Many of the previous answers assume all Christians are fundies who give no thought to their roots. This is offensive to me because I like to think about things, my religion in particular. :)

I feel fine about my religion including parts of other pagan rituals. To me, pagan isn't bad. They were just country folk, from what I understand, until the Catholics brought them in. Many of our customs today, religious or not, surely arise from ancient traditions. That's ok too!

The important part of Christianity is how we treat one another. Pagan, atheist, fellow Christian, Jew, Muslim, etc. All the rest is just stuff to fight over.

Christianity incorporates elements from many pagan traditions but Jesus is unique. If he did in fact claim to be the Son of God or Messiah he was either stark-raving mad or he was from God. the imperfections and unoriginalities in Christianity are irrelevant compared to my answer to that question.

christianity, in my opinion, is a very unique religion. think about it- the creator of the universe sent his only son to die for each and every one of us. he created each and everyone of us so different. we all have diffrent dreams for our life and God knew the plans he had for us before we were even in our mothers womb. if thats not unique then i dont know what is. knowing jesus christ is the only way to get to heaven. you should give him a chance. you dont understand how unique christianity is until you give jesus christ your life. have a blessed week!!!
