While I agree with you, I think many people post quick answers because they haven't got the time to post longer ones. Maybe they figure a little is better than nothing?
Often, the person asking the quesiton leaves a novel and it's usually very badly worded. So my question is, why do people who want a serious answer not take the time to write a gramatically sound and efficient question? They will probably see better results if they do.
But yes I agree, yahoo answers is a great place to help people.

Some people prefer to answer in a concise manner and some people do not read a long answers (or questions).
I try to give due consideration when responding to a question; however I am a great believer in brevity.
I believe if I cannot answer a question correctly with two or three (sometimes longer) sentences, then the questioner may need some professional help and my input is not appropriate.

I try to answer questions, quick and to the point, so they may actually be read by more people. But, I usually answer with more than just a few lines, and put thought into them. Longer answers are good, if they don't go on forever, saying the same thing over and over again. I like substance and focus in responses.

Sometimes the truth is short and simple.
I value full and complete answers but sometimes, a short answer can be amazingly powerful.
Many people here might do this for relaxation in spare moments and some people have time and the expertise to genuinely help others with elaborate answers...like you (;

I believe sometimes a two word answer can be serious and comprehensive. I've asked questions in the past and I chose very short answers as best answer as opposed to other answers that were 20 lines of blah blah.
Everything is relative.

Maybe the people who answers a questions for others is already enough for them. A simple no is plain simple no and yes means a simple yes.
Critical questions is sometimes answered by innocent simple answer.
And I think we should give sufficient time to our answers or not answer at all.

The majority of people don't want long drawn out answers and tend to ignore them all together. I've read on this site how most deplore long answers. Most of the time a well thought out question doesn't even receive any answers.

looky here dr. phil, i grew up in a place called NY and thats not how we do things. i stopped to ask for directions yesterday at a gas station when the attendant scolded me for not being polite and asking him "how are you today." and all of that type of bull. he was a foreign guy. i then realized my bad ettiquette which really isn't my fault. i'm a product of my environment. on a grander scale, younger people seem to be at a lose of good manners and ettiquette also. its a trend which will lead to a world of dark decay.

I don't mean to be rude as I do agree with you BUT, do you really want to read an entire page of usually, nonsense advice or read less and cut to the chase? Less is more in most cases. Hope this helps.

It is not necessary to use a lot of words to convey meaning. The more words the more opportunity for confusion.
