"So, if anyone tells you, 'There he is out in the desert,' do not believe it. For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man"

I've been a Wiccan for a little over a year, I was Agnostic for several years before that, and a Christian from the beginning because my parents raised me to believe that Christianity was all there was in the world. When my best friend since I was two found out that I was a Wiccan, she called me every bad thing she could think of because I was no longer a good person.

I am 20 years old, I don't smoke, I don't do any drugs, I don't drink and I've never had sex. Yet I know 15-year-old christian girls who do all of those things, and my friend honestly believes that those girls are better people than me based only on the fact that they are christian! She believes that my friend's father who beats her for being 'overweight' (she only weighs 140 lbs) is a better person than me because he says he's a christian.

How do other Christians feel about this? Are Christians the only good people based on the fact that they are Christians and the rest of us are not? I'm curious.

Here you guys are in a land of plenty, with so much education to offer that you can pick and choose what you will and won’t learn. How do you think African kids feel when they see you act like spoiled brats who won’t eat their vegetables?

Years after Russell's death, and well into the 1920's the Watchtower Society continued to teach that Jehovah God designed the pyramid.

"In the passages of the Great Pyramid of Gizeh the agreement of one or two measurements with the present-truth chronology might be accidental, but the correspondency of dozens of measurements proves that the same God designed both pyramid and plan..." The Watch Tower, June 15, 1922, page 187

In the November 15, 1928, issue of the Watch Tower, however, Judge Rutherford reversed the teaching on the Pyramid, now calling it " Satan's Bible " and declaring that persons following pyramid teachings were " not following after Christ";

"If the pyramid is not mentioned in the Bible, then following its teachings is being led by vain philosophy and false science and not following after Christ" ( page 341 )

If you haven't seen the first part of the zeitgeist movie (zeitgeistmovie.com), you may have no idea what I'm talking about (even if you are christian).

Examples of christian beliefs explained by sun worship/astrology:
- The Jesus fish symbol
- Death on the cross
- Dead for 3 days
- Birth on Dec 25
- 3 wise men following star in East
- Born of a virgin
- 12 Disciples

According to the video, most of these are common elements of many ancient religions and come directly from sun worship. I am interested in finding how many people are familiar with this view and whether anyone can provide solid objections. I don't feel strongly about this (yet), and am asking out of pure curiousity.

I'm a Christian and I love Harry Potter. I'm 17 years old [Sorry, I just felt the need to share that. Lol.] and I love the Harry Potter books. I've heard alot of Christians telling me that it's "bad" but honestly, what's so bad about it... I mean, I would NEVER recommend it to kids but for teens and adults I think it's just another good book. I think that as long as you're not getting TOO into it then it's fine. What do you guys think? I'm not obsessed with it I just think that they're interesting.

Did David have the Holy Spirit? Judging by his life, works, etc. I always kind of assumed David had the Holy Spirit. It seemed to go without saying. But then I realized, wait a minute.. David lived in the Old Testament, and God didn't pour out the Holy Spirit until after Jesus (in Acts). So that would suggest that people before that did not have the Holy Spirit. But some (David and others) had fruit of it. How is this?

You know those really nice and friendly people. Those ones who seem to be so facinated with you (hey, I am pretty amazing, lol). They are so friendly and ask questions about how you like something, or why you did something. Sometimes one question. Sometimes mulitple questions. It is nosy, but you dont' realize until you walk away that you felt compelled to show more of yourself than you wanted to. How do you get of these questions? Without being rude (the friendly, nice, question askers have good intentions... to be friendly, to take an interest). Is there ONE pat answer to give to all questions without being confrontational. A nice way to be slippery and slide out of these questions. My 7 year old says to say 'I don't know' to all questions.. but as an adult, people know that is a lie. To say 'that is personal' makes that person feel bad when they are wanting to be friendly. Helpful hints??? I need a good hint. I live in a VERY friendly town and am new here.
