The Japanese ones are 父 for father and I think 娘 is daughter.

Since the Japanese kanji system is derived from the Chinese hanzi characters, I would assume they'd be the same or similar.

I think maybe the hip. Thats where my first tat is and it kinda tickled to be honest. :) To the other answer...the foot would hurt big time. But the ankle would be another good place too or even the lower back...but for a father daughter tat, I think that would be a little wierd.

父 -- father (more used in classical Chinese)
女 -- daughter (more used in classical Chinese)
父親 -- father (modern Chinese)
女兒 -- daughter (modern Chinese)
父女 -- "father and daughter" or "father-and-daughter relationship"

Also 娘 doesn't mean "daughter"; it means "mother".
