The Bible says husbands are to love and treat their wives
just as Jesus loves the church, so in Christianity there is no
punishment permitted.
p.s. you need to use spellcheck as you've mispelled 3
words.

NO AMOUNT OF PHYSICAL VIOLENCE IS PERMISSIBLE, REGARDLESS OF ANY RELIGIOUS SANCTION!!!!

PHYSICAL VIOLENCE AGAINST A SPOUSE IS A CRIME, NOT TO MENTION BEING DESPICABLE AND CRUEL.

On this point, I don't give a damn what any religion says, whether quoted from the Bible, the Koran, or the Sears catalog. Domestic violence is not to be tolerated.

If your husband claims that he has a religious right to physically punish you, tell him to talk to your lawyer and take a hike.

As for mental abuse, it depends on how much you are willing to accept. It is not illegal, but it does make great grounds for divorce and will help you get a better divorce settlement.

Islam is actually really flexible. Because most of society functino in a patriarchal format, it in a way took advantage of that to impose rule. However, it put strict limits on what a husband could/could not take away, leaving a women with the right to own property and work. The Prophet himself married a women (who asked for his hand) that was actually a relatively successful worker, and much more wealthy and educated than he.

That's a scary question. Many beat their wives and this is okay to them. I certainly think this wrong, If I have to be beat for my mistakes then I want God to beat my husband when he screws up. (I imagine he uses a big stick) Other than that, we have grace and forgiveness for a reason.
