Yes, it's true. Universities are desperate to enroll and retain minorities. Also, Boo is wrong about paying high fees. One of my co-worker's kids got a four year scholarship to the University in my city. What did he have to do to get this scholarship? Maintain a 2.7 grade point average and take one summer school course per year- last year he took the "Hip hop d.j." course. How that will prepare him academically for one of the best schools in the nation is beyond me.

I took a job placement test a long time ago, about 1971. Passing for me was 70%, passing for Blacks was 18%. Do I really need to tell you what color I am??? There are a few colleges, mostly private with no federal money, that are starting to take the top applicants. It is called "most qualified" and not simply qualified with minorities going to the head of the line. If the school you apply to takes federal money you will have the inside track.
Think about this:
If the playing field is ACTUALLY level, why is race/ethnicity even requested on the application???
I submit that it makes a difference.

That girl is stupid. Even if they did pick you go be in their college because of your race (i'm not saying they do) you would still have to pay the EXTREMELY HIGH fees like everyone else. There's no point in being accepted if you can't pay for books and all that. So in the end you don't get into a college because of your race, you get into a college because you were able to pull together tons of money.

Yes, at my school blacks can get into the school with a 13 on their ACT test, while whites must get a 21 score for the same admission. They have actually started requiring Asians to get higher scores, cause they do even better than whites.
Honestly, its all a sham, that just covers admission, it doesn't count to graduation. Lots of minorities get into school, but an incredibly small number graduate. If you make a 13 on your ACT score, you have no chance of graduating from any university regardless of your race.

That actually is true.
I disagree with that though, because it doesn't seem right to "discriminate" a certain race because the college wants to appear diverse. It should be purely based on the individual's work ethic.

Apparently it is true, since everyone on here is saying it's true. I don't think it's right though. Everyone should have equal opportunities and race shouldn't mean anything.

I believe it's not true. Minorities do not have advantages nor disadvantages, well, only not public facilities and all that.
Okay, It happens, but I do not agree with it.
