97% of Greeks identify themselves a Greek Orthodox. That's an overwhelming majority. The canon mythos are an integral part of the art and history of Greek culture, but the most recent census reports roughly 2,000 adherents to the ancient Greek mythology as a religious belief.

2,000 adherents in a country whose population as of 2005 was 11,082,752 is about .02% of the total population.

In short, very few Greeks adhere to ancient mythology.

It was NOT MYTHOLOGY to them. That was their RELIGION back then, the same way as it was with the Romans. To call it "mythology" is to insult the ancient Greeks and Romans. If you're going to say "Greek mythology" and "Roman mythology", then you also have to say "Christian mythology", "Muslim mythology", "Hindu mythology", etc. And ancient Greek and Roman religions are no more unbelieveable than anything the Bible has to tell...
