Which, if any, of the world's 10,000 religions is the true one?
Why?

Why do many of them not purge originally pagan legends from the Bible, e.g. the Babylonia flood myth, Bacchus turning the water into wine, or the death and resurrection of Osiris?
Is there any difference between believing in Vishnu and Shiva on the one hand, and believing in Abraham/ Saturn or Enoch/Hermes on the other?

[To be fair, I know that many Christians DO recognise the pagan origins of much of the Bible, which is only natural, as all religions are influenced by surrounding cultures.]

Once again, "new light" has been received from the Watchtower Society.

Jehovah's Witnesses, who claim to be God's channel used to teach that only 144,000 would go to heaven and that those people were chosen by the year 1935. The rest of us would live on a paradise earth. Now they are dispensing with the 1935 teaching and are saying that ANYONE can now have the heavenly hope. They are also tossing their 1914 doctrine by claiming the "generation of 1914" is not literal but is a representation of those who have the heavenly hope.

I grew up being taught that the "generation of 1914 will not pass away". Meaning Armageddon would come before people who were aware of the events of 1914 would die.

The year is now 2007. Armageddon hasn't occurred. The Watchtower keeps changing it's doctrine because they know they are wrong. They are covering their butts. They are nothing but false prophets. (Deut. 18:22)

So, why do you Jehovah's Witnesses keep following a false prophet?

I do not understand how someone can not accept Jesus.

Look at how complex the world is. How can life just form from NOTHING? It is ridiculous that this all happened "just cause". "Just cause"?

This is why I am a Christian. It is the religion that makes the most sense. Jesus has a plan for me. If I accept Him into my heart as my savior, I may avoid Hell. My sins and all the sin of everyone who believes in Jesus shall be wiped clean.

God bless.

An atheist recently asked if I thought non-Christians deserve to go to Hell.

Here is my response:

We ALL deserve Hell. We are ALL sinners. We have done bad things in the past and we continue to do them over and over again, yet God provides a way for us to be saved.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son. That means that if we are a Christian, if we believe in His sacrifice, our sins might be wiped clean. We can enter Heaven. If you are not a Christian, God is not sending you to Hell. You send yourself.

Agree?

Give your heart to Jesus. God bless.

Will God protect us?? I am thinking about doing it with a couple of friends and we are going to pray to god before we start asking him to protect us from evil spirits. So will he protect us from negative spirits and let us get in contact with the positive ones?

I don't like to put JW's on the spot. If it wasn't for your teachings I will be an Atheist. But you guys have helped me to know the real Bible God. Not some 3 headed monster who created a hell to put sinners there like other Christians belief. No wonder there are so many Athiest. JW's, I thank you for your teachings.

But sometimes things like this create doubt in my mind:

Please read: Deuteronomy 18:20-22 (King James Version)

20: But the prophet, which shall presume to speak a word in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or that shall speak in the name of other gods, even that prophet shall die.
21: How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken?
22: When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that is the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, but the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him.

QUESTION: Didn't a JW's book say that the generation of 1914 will see the end?

...and you had come to your conclusions after extensive investigation, determining instead that they all believe in Santa simply because they were raised to, and further suppose that the Santa believers had already passed numerous laws that restrict your freedom based on nothing but Santa belief, and further suppose they were trying to introduce 'intelligent levitation' as an alternative to aerodynamics, and further suppose that the Y!A mythology section was filled with people talking about how great Santa is, would you hang out there for hours on end telling people - in a nice way - that they were delusional?

I worked 14 hours yesterday and I stopped by my friends house on the way home just to say hi and he treated me hateful. It was about 9 pm and he was studying for a test for his job and he was so nasty to me, I told him I hoped he lost his job and it would do him good to have some time away.
I also expressed to him I praid about his health and hoped he would lose his job. I told him I was tired of him working himself to death while his family cant even stop by for a meal. They treat him pretty bad. He just works himself nearly to death. He has diabetes, high blood pressure, borderline renal function.
He was laid off today for flunking the test. He cannot return to work until he passes the test. I am delighted. He is not saying too much about it.
Do you think a prayer was answered?

I am not questioning whether we should have works or not. I am not saying works are not good. I am just asking if the play any role in salvation. In Romans we are told that one who does not work, his faith is counted for righteousness. This verse clearly states that someone who does not work is considered righteous because of his faith. So why do so many think works are a necessary part of salvation? Please do not quote me James. James is talking to people who are already Christians. He is telling us we should work not that it will save us.

Romans 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

I am wondering cause I want to ask this one guy if he is gay so that I can ask him out, but I would feel so bad to put someone on the spot like that, does anyone ever feel freeked when someone asks you if you are gay and you think they are gay too? Should I just keep flirting or should I be more direct about it? I don't want to have him be all uncomforatble and not answer honestly, what are the odds he will answer truthfully? I am so confused on what to do... PLEASE HELP!!
