An atheist recently asked if I thought non-Christians deserve to go to Hell.

Here is my response:

We ALL deserve Hell. We are ALL sinners. We have done bad things in the past and we continue to do them over and over again, yet God provides a way for us to be saved.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son. That means that if we are a Christian, if we believe in His sacrifice, our sins might be wiped clean. We can enter Heaven. If you are not a Christian, God is not sending you to Hell. You send yourself.

Agree?

Give your heart to Jesus. God bless.

The only thing you've shot (off) is your figurative mouth. You may be able to send yourself to an self- imposed torment, due to the fact of your mental illness, but the rest of us are getting along quite happily without your imaginary friends.

The only place you'll be entering is a worm's maw. Happy forever after!

Again I will ask you the same questions I have asked on Y/A since I joined it. Why is your religion the only religion that has right on its side? Why is your way the only way? Is your God so petty that he cannot see that other people can believe in God without believing your way of believing? If he is all that, then I feel very sorry for you. May you find tolerance towards others, read the whole Bible and not the verses that make you feel good, and mostly keep an open mind towards the views of others.

It's not an attack if they are asking if you think non-Christians deserve to go to hell.

Your response was that everyone deserves to go to hell, but only Christians will avoid it.

Sorry, the attempt to turn a question into an attack is moot. And your response affirms the question.

As for personal responsibility, let's think. No person sends themselves to be eternally tortured for holding a different philosophical position on the existence of gods. This isn't the first century A.D. It's ridiculous to turn ancient threats into a conversion tactic against people who spot the ruse. Can't you people think for once about the issues you're fighting about, instead of sounding like a mullah with a lobotomy?

Why would God create a being that deserves to go to hell? This has NEVER made sense to me. Sometimes I think the idea of hell and sin come from a "devil". To put distance between us and God. To confuse humans. To help them judge others, rather than let them live in sweet compassion. In a state closer to Gods, to Christs or any of the other saints ... why live in sin? why live in fear? These are not the all encompassing feeling of the Divine.

What a loving and perfect god you believe in. Everything he created deserves to be tortured forever unless they accept a 'son' who he never gave. Is Jesus in heaven? Is god? If so then Jesus was not sacrificed. Where is the sacrifice when he was only away from dad for 33 years out of FOREVER? There is no loss and therefore no sacrifice.

I think the things that Christians say that their God will send them to hell for are stupid and irrelevant. I don't think I'm a bad person because I have sex, or because I like alcohol or I cuss or I live plutonically with a member of the opposite sex, or because I support gltb's or because I smoke, or because I haven't "accepted Jesus" as my savior. So no, I don't agree, I don't think we deserve the fictional hell.

Interesting. You know what I believe? I believe that God will judge us by our works and that belief in Jesus Christ is what gets us over that last chasm into Heaven but if we dont do OUR part, follow His teachings, obey his commandments and exercise true charity, we will have failed and heaven will elude us. As for all those who have no faith, well I believe that we know alot less then we think we do about God and we need to not pass judgment or we will condem ourselves. Live a life full of good works and earn your spot in heaven and let God work through your example to soften the hearts of those around you.

What was the question? I don't really see much 'cept a load of rhetoric apologist nonsense. Not only that but you're just interpretting the Bible in one biased way.

And btw I kinda need my heart to power my circulatory system, I'm not gonna be giving it away.

No I dont think we are all so evil that we deserve an eternal suffering of torture fire and brimstone.

We will be judged according to our knowledge, hearts and actions.

Hell is the absence of God. It is your progression being stopped and your knowledge limited. It isnt torture and torment. Very very few humans have ever done anything so terrible that they deserve an eternity of continual actual torture. Not fully understanding Gods plan on earth definetly doesnt justify it.
