Would you write grafitti on a holy temple?
Well why would you do it to your body?
Not a sin, but....

if it is done through blood, I mean injection, yes it is a sin.
But away from being a sin or no, what are you going to do after you feel that the tattoo is not suitable any more or if you want to change it. I guess that we have to respect our bodies a little bit more than we respect a piece of paper.

It's in the book of Leviticus where it talks about it....Lev. 19:28" 'Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD.
It also talks about not cutting your beard or the sides of your hair. These were for specific times for specific groups of people. It was referring to identifying with the Pagan world, or identifying for use with the dead.
We as Christians are to be set apart as God's people. However, if you are just getting one because you think they look cool or you’ve always wanted to be an art gallery then it is probably okay.
MANY Christians have them, it is the spirit in how we go about the acts we do. I know I am not explaining it real well, but that is the gist of it.

I am a pastor's wife, and I have a tattoo of a butterfly on my back. Was it a sin? I don't know. But I do not feel any conviction about it at all. In fact, I think it's very pretty. And my husband, well; he loves it!

Oh, yeah, they probably think it is,
just one more thing to squawk about.
Some folks aren't happy unless,
they can rain on your parade,
It's what keeps 'em going.
So, I suppose, they more than likely
have some quotation from the bible
to suit their purpose.
I'd be willing to bet there is a quotation in there
about anything you like to do,
that they don't, that they can go on about.
I thank my lucky stars,
every day of my life that,
I do not practice that religion
and that I am a Pagan.

No, it's awesome. Although if you want a job in a professional setting, it's a good idea not to get any that can't be hidden by a short sleeve shirt.

It has been suggested in this forum that "Leviticus 19:28" would be a great name for a tattoo parlor.

There's an old, old, old book in the Bible (can't remember the name... but I do know it starts with an I) that states it to be a sin to mutilate one's flesh in any way (which roughly translates to no tattooings, piercings, self-mutilation, etc...)
