Really? How come that decent intelligent people genuinely believe so. How come that the very religion I was raised in must be wrong. Come on, how can you look at Sumerian tablets and continue to maintain that these guys did not exist because "our" god couldn't possibly be around then. And they could WRITE, they actually invented the bloody thing about 10.000 years ago. Carve in stone, for that matter. Makes you think.

Think about it. Some of the passages in the bible that say things like homosexuality is a sin and if you try to contact the spirits you will go to hell. Could satan have sent over evil agents to make the bible its evil tool against civilization?

atheists often have a smart@ss attitude on Y!A?

They can be demeaning of other religions referring to God as a sky creature or some other randome nickname; and that they are so superior to be "free thinkers."

Why can't you be respectful? I hate to clump you guys together becuz there are some sincere atheists (probly most of you) but for the ones that aren't...u really are ruining the perception of atheism and aughta be ashamed of ur insincerity and "im smarter than you and ur fiction" personality.

Peace.

It occurs to me that a group can be members only, must be moderated by a human, and in every other way operates like the message board that this forum has become for so many of us.
I'm asking because I'm thinking it might be a good idea.
The problem would be that it would be cut off from yahoo answers; the solution would be an occasional mention of the group, carefully dropped, would also probably bring many YA seniors in - and there's no reason one couldn't do both!

any comments/thoughts?

I'm in a land where conformists are the majority and free speech is frowned upon. People would kick and scream (in text behind closed doors) if their free speech was threatened, but they turn their noses up at anyone who doesn't believe the same things they believe. That's right!!! I'm in the land of Yahoo! Answers!!

According to your beliefs it's against the rules to receive blood transfussions, but is it against your religion to give blood before a surgery, after all it is your own blood.

Do these texts show that Jesus had the same God as his followers. If not than was he talking to himself? If so than does that show Jesus is not God

Mark 15:34 “34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?””

John 20 :17 “Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.”

I know this is sort of in the wrong area but I posted this question in the writing area and no one responded.

Besides, I want my book to have a religious theme anyways so I suppose it does fit.

For those of you who don't know, Nanowrimo is National Novel Writing Month where the participants try to write a 50 000 word novel in 1 month (the month of November).

The problem is, I need a little bit of help with some story ideas. Not a full plot or anything, just a tiny little detail that might be interesting to work in.

Whites were slaves, and were called crackers and then the blacks controlled everything, and today the name cracker would be similar to the N word of yesterday. My question is if that were the case, if a black person called you a cracker, would you be upset

Now, I've heard that the Christian OT is the Jewish Bible...or Torah, now...most of the "bad stuff" that happens with God is in the OT, you know, the stuff that Chirstians say no longer applies to them...so, I was wondering...with no ill intent to the ones being asked this...but do Jews still have to make animal sacrifices, marry the man who rapes you, and then have to pay money to the father? Just to name a few. Because by the way some Christians put it, you guys have to...if the OT is your Bible, maybe I was misinformed but...what do you have to say about that? Let the bloodbath begin...^_^

Yes, repentance over a particular sin is acceptable even if the repentant insists on another sin which is of a different nature and not the same as the one he has repented. To take an example, if a man repents having accepted "interest money", but not drinking wine, his repentance over the interest money is acceptable, and vice versa, but if he repents simple interest but not compound interest then his repentance is invalid. So also if he repents drugs but insists on drinking wine, or vice versa, then that repentance is invalid too. It will also be incorrect and unacceptable if a man repents adultery with a woman but commits it with another. In all these cases they have only shifted from one variety of sin to another within the same kind. http://www.islamawareness.net/Repentance/
