So how about if you got it translated professionally into Mandarin, and from that to Swahili, then into Icelandic, then back to English.... would the newly translated version still be the literal and unquestionable word of God..... Heck, would it even make the slightest shred of sense at all?

Anyone want to have a bit of fun with AltaVista's babelfish function and bible quotes to find out for themselves?


So.... all in all.... are you confident that the translation of the Bible in its original forms to the present versions around today is .... accurate?

Both Islam and Judaism teach the same monotheistic screed. Same creation story, same history up to Abraham. Judaism and Christianity diverge at the birth of Jesus, but most still consider the Christian God the same as the Jewish God. So why do so many people insist that Allah is not God? I mean, I understand not acknowledging the Koran, but people who reject the Book of Mormon don't insist that the LDS don't worship the same Christ.

If you don't believe a higher being ordained that men rule over women, does that mean that most atheists have a completely egalitarian view on male/female relations? That men are, while obviously different, not inherently superior to women?

I have to admit, that would be a very attractive feature to the (non)belief system!

A man responsible for the death of another man in a car crash walks away with a fine and a few points on his licence because the man didn't die at the scene but in the hospital a few days later so only went to court for careless driving but if you commit fraud or any crime involving money you get a jail sentence of at least 10 years it seems to me the government only care about money than the life of someone who probably never caused anyone any harm in his life it seems to me murderers walkaway from jail sentences yet theives and fraudsters get jailed there is no justice in the world so please explain to someone whose father was killed in the car accident how this is fair all views are welcome

When I leared Italian I seemed to forget Portuguese, or maybe I just took it apart and rebuilt it as Italian, they are very similar, and it has been 9 years now since I really spoke Portuguese. My Italian is good, I speak it on an daily basis, and I'm immersing myself in Irish now, but don't want to lose my Italian.

I'm not asking how to learn a language, I taught English as a second langage for years so I'm familiar with the process, my question is about how you think languages are mapped into/onto/through each other in the brain. What happens when you learn a third or fourth language, how do they connect with your mother language or other languages you've learned when they are a. the same language family b. different language families. Thanks

If you don't believe in ghosts, witches, fairies, aliens etc, why do you believe in God? He is afterall invisible as the rest of them. I just recently moved into a house that is over 100 years old, the basement is dungeon like, whenever I open the door to the basement at night it really gives me the willies/chills, I have been thinking about going down there with a OUIJA board, my friend Sarah told me to go down there past midnight but to make sure that I am not down there past 3am in the morning because thats when all the bad spirits come around and then I am screwed, can a person get hurt by a bad spirit? Any reports that happens?
