I was born and raised in Prince George's County, which is on the border of Washington, D.C.

Yet all my life I've felt like an outsider and people from the county as in disbelief when they find out I'm from here. I started a new job recently and have had several co-workers ask me if I'm from the mid-West.

What's up that? Am I not Southern enough or something?

Lucifer and Prometheus are parallel figures in mythology. In Milton's Paradise Lost, Lucifer, the light bringer, is cast as The Adversary. In the book of Genesis the original sin of Adam and Eve was to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. All in all, this seems to indicate that there is something wicked about seeking to shine the light of understanding on life. Why, when the signature attribute of human Being is the power of choice, would this be so? Is it really necessary to check one's brain at the door of the Church? Is ignorance really our only avenue to Life more abundant? Or is the Gospel According to Thomas which begins- "Let him who seeks not cease seeking until he finds..." - the true gospel?

Caution: I do not believe in an anthropomorphic "god", so spare me the inane superficiality of the conventional, Pharisaic Christianity of Paul of Tarsus.

It went so far in the early church that they persecuted people who tried to communicate the truth that the earth was not the center of the universe. We now all know that this is a fact, but the church continues to persecute those who actively seek the evidence to discover the truth about our universe and our origins.

In light of the evidence based conclusions, we are not the purpose for the universe... but because the church and it's followers find comfort in believing we are they try to make life difficult for those of us who want the human race to know the truth about the universe and our role in it.

Grandpa draws his final breath and is carted off to a mortuary where he is drained of his blood and filled with some sort of pickle fluid. He is spiffed up, painted up and laid out in an expensive box that will soon be buried forever. Friends and family gather to spend an evening with the corpse and sniff at the appropriate times.

Is this what you would like for your self? Or do you have some ideas of your own that stray from the norm? I sure do.

obviously accurate. Here is the answer that a couple gave thumbs down. - Did Pagan Constantine contribute in writing the word of God?

It is worth noting, and well known throughout the religious world, that the choice of the present four "gospels" of the New Testament (Matthew, Mark, Luke and John) were imposed in the Council of Nicea 325 CE for political purposes under the auspices of the pagan Emperor Constantine, and not by Jesus. Constantine’s mind had not been enlightened either by study or by inspiration. He was a pagan, a tyrant and criminal who murdered his son, his wife and thousands of innocent individuals because of his lust for political power. Constantine ratified other decisions in the Nicene Creed such as the decision to call Christ "the Son of God

Why shouldn't the truth get a thumbs up even if you don't like the answer?

This one guy just goes around ALL the religion question and posts the same thing everytime:

"Remember, "god" is nothing more than a nonsense word created by man to explain away all of the things we can't yet understand.

Religion is a disease of the mind, born of fear, which has done nothing but bring untold misery down upon the human race. "

I know its not very "christian like" but reading that just makes me want to beat him senseless! lol

What is his purpose?
He just sits there all day going around tell people that we are wrong...

When...honestly....we are not wrong. But whatever. they will all find out soon enough.

Who else has recieved a comment from thsi guy?

A man and his son were walking in the forest. Suddenly the boy trips and feeling a sharp pain he screams, "Ahhhhh."

Surprised, he hears a voice coming from the mountain, "Ahhhhh!" Filled with curiosity, he screams: "Who are you?", but the only answer he receives is: "Who are you?"

This makes him angry, so he screams: "You are a coward!", and the voice answers: "You are a coward!"

He looks at his father, asking, "Dad, what is going on?"

"Son," the man replies, "pay attention!" Then he screams, "I admire you!"

The voice answers: "I admire you!"

The father shouts, "You are wonderful!", and the voice answers: "You are wonderful!"

The boy is surprised, but still can't understand what is going on.

Then the father explains, "People call this 'ECHO', but truly it is 'LIFE!' Life always gives you back what you give out! Life is a mirror of your actions. If you want more love, give more love! If you want more kindness, give more

If atheism is simply a lack of belief in God, then atheism does not address the actual existence of God...meaning atheism allows for the possibility of God's existence.

If you really are an atheist (one who merely lacks belief in God) then you should be able to admit to the possibility of a God.

Otherwise, you are not an atheist; you are an anti-theist.

So how many of you self-identified atheists will make this honest confession?: "According to atheism it is possible for a God to exist."

Anyone?

Yes, I know atheism also allows for the possibility of blue fairies, et all. Nonetheless atheism allows for the possibility of a supernatural God. So an objective, honest atheist should have no problem admitting it.

Isn't this the ultimate honesty test for atheists?

Because in my experience, most atheists are actually anti-theists, who hide behind a feint of make-believe non-belief, and who base their entire belief system of the impossibility of God's existence.

That the atheists that hang around in the Religion and Spirituality area are just seeking attention?

Dont answer their questions, because they are not going to "believe" they just want to see you all defend what you believe.

I have faith, and no...I am not sorry that I didn't decide to just think that this wolrd all happened by chance.

I have more brains then that.

Leave them alone. if they get no anwers...hopefully they will go away.

Atheists, no doubt, you are good people...but sitting here all day and calling us idiots for having faith in something that you cant understand...doesn't make us wrong.

If people are going to act that way, they need to strap on their little girl/boy pants and go back to the highschool world, where they belong.

The town I live in is about 50/50 black and white. But, it just so happens by chance that, at work, in our department there is only one white person. Our manager is Black. And the director is Black also. Im the only person that really talks to the white chick. She thinks that she gets unfairly singled out because she is white.

I can say that she does not get away with anything. When she makes a mistake she hears about it everytime. and its usually very frank "You're not doing your job." She does ask some pretty dumb questions, but so do some of the Black people. But when she asks a dumb question the boss tells her "Im gonna need you to get off that bus (short bus)"

Now she is in a rebellious stage "fukkit" she leaves early, comes late, she doesn't care if she gets fired anymore. She told me this morning that she thinks she is going to snap, and I believe her. Is she going to be alright?
