I totally agree!
IMO, there seems to be an "atheist evangelical" movement underway. I see it on youtube and here and myspace...

We have every right to be in this section. We have every right to ask questions. We have every right to answer questions.
From all the questions (actually I'm yet to see a question, just this pathetic rants) I've seen from you, the attention seeker is YOU!
Don't Christians want us to believe in their religion also? Just like as you say, '.... they are not going to "believe" they just want to see you all defend what you believe.'
I've never had an atheist come to my door and tell me that their way is the only way to live. But seriously, I've lost count of how many times I've had Christians and Jehovah's Witnesses come to my door and preach. My next door neighbour often yells across the fence 'Have you found God yet?' and I say 'No just leave me alone' and she yells that I'm going to hell and God is the one and only God.
I would never in a million years hassle anyone to stop believing in God, or whom ever they believed in. The only time I will inform someone of my religion is if they ask.
I personally wouldn't waste my breath trying to 'convert' someone to atheism. Most people are stubborn and close minded they wouldn't even take the time to listen.
You don't have any more brains than the average 10 year old. You don't know how the world began, but if you keep an open mind and learn then you might see there is more than one possibility.
If we leave you alone and don't answer and of your rants will you go away? (We can only hope)
You're so naive and hypocritical.
I'm in High School and I'm a lot smarter than you. At least I can spell and can use punctuation appropriately. I keep an open mind too.
I really hope you never become a doctor, you are so not there...

I would love to have an hour just to talk on this topic, about why it's more logical to believe in the God of creation than to believe this is all a chance happening. But here's the thing; arguing, calling people names, putting them down and calling them stupid is no way to to convince anyone of either point of view. It's taking discussion off the table and resorting childish behaviour.
I understand the frustrations on both sides and the temptation to just get angry and insult each other, but what does it resolve? Nothing. It only causes both sides to dig their heels in deeper.
To get to the question posted: Some atheists might be just seeking attention, some might actually be searching for answers to either confirm or disprove their belief. Either way, they need to be treated respectfully. Christians, ask yourself, "How would Jesus respond?". And remember that He came to save a lost and dying world, not through arguing and name calling, but through love, compassion and sacrifice. When He spoke, even the elders were amazed that He did so with incredible wisdom and authority.

Well, not all atheists do that, but the Religion&Spirituality section of Yahoo! Answers seems to be crawling with hard-core, militant atheists who try to "convert" everyone else to atheism (I like to call them "Evangelical Atheists"). These people feel that they have to ridicule and insult everyone who has different beliefs than them, and they can be as rude as they want without any real repercussions since they are hiding behind a computer screen. And yes, they probably do it for attention of entertainment. The correct term for that sort of person is a "Troll". And you're right, you should never respond to trolls - "don't feed the troll". Of course, there are plenty of religious people, mostly Christians, who do this, too, but the Evangelical Atheists seem to be the most common.
Personally I am disgusted with all the rudeness, ridicule, and insults that are on this section of Yahoo! Answers. I'm glad to see there's someone who agrees with me.
EDIT: And to everyone who said that this section is there for you to discuss and defend your beliefs (or lack thereof), yes, that's true, but it is not a place for you to insult and ridicule everyone who disagrees with you.

Actually I'm here looking for entertainment... in this case there is a growing and shrinking supply of theists who keep me pretty entertained on a daily basis. You wouldn't believe some of the things you guys say....
for example:
I have faith, and no...I am not sorry that I didn't decide to just think that this wolrd all happened by chance
but sitting here all day and calling us idiots for having faith in something that you cant understand
If people are going to act that way, they need to strap on their little girl/boy pants and go back to the highschool world, where they belong
Comedic GENIUS...
Yeah- you have more brains THAN that... :) Isn't it obvious?
Deke- that gives me a good idea for a question.

Is there an actual question after your initial heading? It seems more like a rant including a poorly veiled hit at atheists and a bit about your beliefs (which incidentally, we don't care about).
When it comes down to it, we're here to discuss religion. If you don't like the questions that criticise your beliefs then don't answer them, simple as that. I guarantee though that you'll continue asking idiotic questions that are hypocrtical of what you're arguing here.

You just don't get it. Many of us atheist were christian until we thought for ourselves. We understand christianity more than most christians. We didn't just decide, "no, I'm not going to believe anymore." We used our intellect, got past what we were told since we were knee high to a grasshopper and made a conscious effort to understand what we "believed". My studies of my christian religion took me longer than my graduate schooling. I have read the bible more times than I can count. I have talked to many in the church. I have read many books on christianity. It was only after years that it was clear to me that I had been deceived. Deceived by others that had also been deceived.
If you want to believe in a god that is all powerful, yet lets all the atrocities of the world happen, fine. But do not say that it is something that we can't understand. Because we understand all too well.

Do you think Jesus would ignore these people? This may be the only way some people have for hearing the gospel presented to them. I understand your impatience, but remember, Christ Jesus was and still is very patient with all of us, it is His desire that not one soul should perish. Satan thought by nailing Jesus to that cross, evil would be victorious.
How wrong he was. Same goes for these forums, satan's only intention is to de-rail your peace and your faith, he wants to cause you to sin through anger or indifference towards others. Once again, God can use satans plan to further His own kingdom, to accomplish His desire by preaching the Gospel to those who would normally choose to not hear it. Once again, satan loses. Be strong and remain faithful and always remember how lost we all were before knowing Christ Jesus as Lord in our lives. God Bless You...Peace.

I'm going to assume that you are young and let you off with a tip - follow your own advice and grow up. I really don't mean that in a snarky way. I honestly mean that this post is rather immature and it's time to let go of such a petty, juvenile view of the world.

I am not an atheist, but why sit here and rant and rave in this forum about something you don't know anything about. If you were a good christian you would stop this pathetic crap and get on with your life.
