I am willing to guess that people gave thumbs down to the statement that the four gospels were imposed at the Council of Nicea because it is just factually incorrect. Here is a summary from Columbia University, which coincidentally has recently been in the news for a different reason. The Council of Nicea did create the Nicene Creed, but did not impose the four gospels.

People give answers a "thumbs down" for lots of reasons. Disagreement, poor wording, refusal to acknowledge fact, "it seemed like a good idea at the time".
Unfortunately, all a person has to do is reach Level Two in the Yahoo!Answers points-system to give answers a thumbs-up or a thumbs-down.
You'll also notice that it's mainly Christians pulling that crap just cos they don't like the answer. A few McWiccans supposedly "thumbs downed" an answer of mine about Saturnalia because, even as a pagan, I can be objective about my path's past (in addition to wanting to know the real history of ancient Graeco-Roman polytheism rather than the whitewashed $ilver Ravenwolf "paganism is sweetness and light!" false history). Still, for the most part, it *is* Christians on here dishing out the thumbs-down ratings because they don't like what they see. I hate to admit it, but it's true.

Several reasons:
1. It's not completely the truth. The books that were accepted as canonical had already been accepted by mainstream Christians two hundred years prior to that.
Give me a little while, and I'll post who actually wrote a list of books they considered canonical, WAY before the Council of Nicea.
2. Jesus was already known by Christians as the Son of God.
3. This same answer has been copied and pasted throughout questions all day. Most people thumbs-down copy-and-paste answers.
I could go on...

People tend to fear any truth that doesn't mesh with their world view or religious beliefs. There are some that argue that the nicean counsel was exactly as was stated above, but argue that Constantine was a christian, which is a blatant fact twister. People like to twist truth to suit their own mind, and then get snippy when people point out their fact twisting.

Perhaps some people disagree with your characterisation of Constantine as 'a pagan, a tyrant and criminal who murdered his son, his wife and thousands of innocent individuals because of his lust for political power'.
I, for instance, just think he was a clot.

Perhaps because people are not used to hearing it. It's interesting that, along the lines of truth, since we are talking about that, that we are often asked why Jesus never states that he is God in the Bible.
So we can add to Constantine the charge of being 'incompetent' , because as you say, he 'ratified other decisions' but left it out of the Gospels. People are stuck with exacting the things that Jesus said about himself being the Son of God axiomatically.
So I suppose Constantine was incompetent because he failed to have them write it in the Gospels? So he didn't 'make it up' like most liars would?

Well for the most part people dont like the truth. Its not always simple or agreeable. Its not slick shiny or gives them the upper hand. The thing about the truth is its equal and allot of people don't like things to be equal

That's like saying Bush threw the first bomb himself.
Do you think he spent a lot of time with all the scholars he had gathered to do this work? Do you suppose he ever did more than a short read occasionally?
I don't.
Therefore I find your assumption negative and if I was going to give a thumb either way it would be down.

Agree 100% with Jon M. There are people on here who just take a dislike to others, and regardless of what they post, always give a thumbs down.

When emotions run high, as they do here, one man's truth is another man's heresy. Honestly, YOUR truth may not deserve a thumbs up, but then again, it may not deserve a thumbs down.
Ratings here are very subjective based more often on personal belief than the revelation of truth.
