Let me get this straight.

YOU were criticized because you show respect to an elderly person by offering your seat - regardless of their faith.

I'm sorry but WELL DONE!!! YOU did the right thing. Should be more of it.

Religion is the manner in which one behaves oneself.

How does your cousin know who is the enemy of the God?

How could an All Knowing God hate you? That would mean that the purpose of your creation is to be the objectof the Hate of the God.

Your behaviour defines your religion. Good manners, politeness, compassion, courtesy, kindness, friendliness, generosity, trustworthness & cheerfulness, say more about ones individual religion that anything from the mouth. Talk is the cheapest thing that one can do.

You were obeying the commandment of the God revealed to prophets of any religion. "Treat others as you would like to be treated."

It's really sad that your cousin has this narrow- minded thinking. What your cousin doesn't realize is that we were all made in God's image and after His likeness. There are some people of different faiths that have put their trust in God. Sometimes we may not understand how others worship, but the important thing is that we all get there (in Heaven). The thing is, if we believe in the Savior and accept Him, who are we to judge? You did a good thing whether or not your cousin agrees or not. Peace!!!

Love your cousin as you love yourself, and pray for the understanding to come to your cousin. You might share with him or her the story of the Good Samaritan, and the story of how Jesus received water from the Samaritan woman.

Jesus did not want us to only do good to our friends, or even the friends of G-d.

Religions are not the prime source of hate and evil. In my understanding, the source of hate is an imbalance in the person or communities. Imbalance is caused by ignorance and violence. There is a thin line between love and hate.

Far worse than hate is to be ignored or shunned. Something is bothering your Christian cousin, who cannot get his mind around the problem. Pray for him and for all of us too.

G-d bless you.

No I agree with you. I too believe in God but do not like organized religion. It is the root of the problem. Most religions are so similar and what we are fighting about is petty details such as what we call God. Religion breeds hate.

For your cousin to be so cruel is not the Christian way. He should be loving his enemy according to the Bible. Hypocrisy also runs through the religious communities like wildfire.

Not a prime source, but religion gives people meaning and purpose. Religions also conflict, and admitting another is right is admitting yours is wrong, thus removing or insulting your purpose. Thus, conflict-many wars have been over religion, as have racial tension, starvation, greed, etc.

So no, I wouldn't call religion a prime source of hate and evil. Can it be a source? Sure, but more often than not it merely promotes general well being and peace.

What your cousin did was incredibly hypocritical. Doesn't he remember the story of the good Samaritan? Jesus didn't discriminate. He did good for people no matter what. He never denied anyone. And the whole point of being a Christian is to be Christ-like.

In that case, it's a coincidence. There are many Christians who try to do good for people, whatever their beliefs may be.

I would submit that your cousin is not a "devoted Christian," but just looking for excuses to perpetuate his own bigotry. Consciously or not.

I object to anyone calling themselves "Christian" and then saying something like this.

Anyone who would dare say this and claim to know God's will on the matter, is anti-Christian, and frankly, I think, needs to be told so.

This is NOT the way Christians should think.... ever.

Sorry, this one PO'ed me pretty good.....

Regards and respects

No, you are right. People are more interested in the customs and traditions of religion instead of seeking a personal relationship with God. Religious people don't realize they are actually helping Satan by dividing God's people. We all have different ways of praising and serving God but we don't have the right to judge and tell someone that they don't serve God the way they're supposed to. Pray for your friend to come into a relationship with God and allow Him to abide within him. He will then begin to receive revelation of how God operates and what is expected of us.

I am Catholic and don't agree with what your cousin did at all. Christianity calls for the love of all people. Even the ones who don't believe the same as us and the ones that persecute us. I am sorry that you had to witness that. Pray for your cousin that he/she will see God's light. Also, forgive them for what they have done.

Man that is really REALLY sick, esp. since it happened in the name of a loving God.

A few weeks ago somebody posted something inviting Christians to pray with Muslims for peace, and so many "good Christian" fundamentalists wrote him, slamming him and filling up the question with such venom it was sickening. They got together and all reported him and got the question removed.

How's that for the love of God made manefest?

Hate and evil is still promulgated in the name of Jesus, same as the Crusades of 2 millennia ago.
