I was born and raised in Prince George's County, which is on the border of Washington, D.C.

Yet all my life I've felt like an outsider and people from the county as in disbelief when they find out I'm from here. I started a new job recently and have had several co-workers ask me if I'm from the mid-West.

What's up that? Am I not Southern enough or something?

I have lived in various parts of the USA. Detroit, San Francisco, Atlanta.
Currently close to St. Louis-Yes the Midwest.

I have found the Midwest people to always be extremely polite, considerate goal and family oriented and trustworthy.

Take it as a compliment.

Not sure but I lived in NM for awhile and there were many people living there from the Mid-west.They seemed honest and family people.Sort of religous but not pushy.
