It's despicable hubris. Back in the iron age it might have been forgiven, in view of the tiny amount of knowledge of the universe. It appeared to be a flat disk with a domed ceiling full of pretty lights.
But today - when we know something of the stupendous size of the real universe, and our position in the outskirts of an obscure galaxy among billions - it's unforgivable. And yet this arrogance seems undimmed.

We are nothing more than the tiniest speck in the universe, that is true. Some Christians though do not believe they are the purpose of the Entire Universe (even God states that the True world isn't in fact the material one, but the spiritual one aka angels) but that their own Lives have a purpose, that they were created for a purpose. What was that? To make their home, Earth, a beautiful garden, a beautiful place to live.
It's also true that the earth is right in the middle of an argument between God and Satan (Satan supports that humans should set the standard of what is right and what is wrong etc) while God waits patiently for us to prove that very thing to him.

First - the purpose of the universe is To Be - not for humans to achieve salvation through belief in Christ.
The possibility that Earth is the only habitable (and inhabited) planet in the entire universe is a real scientific fact. There is no emotion behind that statement - it is just a fact - possible.
It is intellectually foolish to look at the complete lack of evidence for non-Terran life and conclude that it must be out there because the opposite is "arrogant." You're really just taking the ignorance of religion and applying it to astronomy.
SETI has been a project for many years, and has produced NOTHING. What is the basis for your belief? You don't want to be arrogant? Acknowledging that humans may be it is not arrogance - just realism.

You are mixing facts up here. Are you talking about being the physical center of the universe? If so, that has not been a serious, considered point for centuries.
If you are talking about the spiritual sense of being the center of the universe, then that is still inaccurate. Christian believe that God is the center of the universe, the be-all and the end-all. We simply know, by His word, that He created this world and us, for Himself and His purposes.
As science discovers more about the universe, it simply confirms the wonder and majesty of God. That so much, so complex, could have come into being by accident is a fool's thought. The very existence and intricacy of the universe supports the existence of God, just as the complexity of the human body, or the metamorphosis of a caterpillar to a butterfly does.

You are wrong, the scientific commuinity AT THE TIME ALSO disagreed with the conclusions of kepler and the like. That is the way science is.
The persecution didn't just come from the church. The church was stupid to subscribe to one scientiest over another, which is why they stay out of it these days. For the most part anyway.

We are not the sole purpose of the Universe. As for life on Earth, this is our purpose:

We are the only creature that can go beyond the Earth. If we fail, we are just an ape.

Does the fact a hole fits a puddle perfectly imply that the hole was designed for the purpose of fitting the puddle? Of course not, yet that is what the creationists would have you believe. They argue the hole fits the puddle too perfectly not to be designed for it. When in reality the puddle fits the hole not the other way around. It is simply man's arrogance that makes him think the universe was designed with him in mind.
Yes we find ourselves in a region with physical laws conducive to life and sufficient local complexity to support evolution. But we are just like the puddle who finds itself in a perfectly fitting hole.
Falling snowflakes always find themselves inside of snowstorms. This does not imply the world was designed by a snow pixie.

The universe is too big for us to comprehend, so some wanna bury their head in the sand cause it's easier to understand what's right in front of your nose than the whole elephant. There are still Amish here in the US, they look pretty happy, why bother them with the rotational speeds of quasars in deep space? Besides, who are we hurting if we think we are the center of the universe on our little anthill?

Isn't self defeating to think that we are not. Until we discover solid evidence that says differently why should we not act as the purpose for the universe? You can not honestly say that we are not because you do not know.

Christians don't "think". They "believe". There is a fundamental difference between the two words no matter how anybody sugar coats it.
Thinking requires education, understanding and the willingness to use the brain to make decisions, tossing out the wrong when right has been proven.
Belief requires nothing more than a set of blinders and earplugs, and the ability to "pretend" to hear inner voices telling you that godidit.
