Okay, I'm like 33 1/3% combined Cherokee, Tuscarora, and Navajo descent. So because I am a Black Indian, I mark 'black and 'native american' on applications or whatever. Why is it that so many of my black native friends and family would just put native american and not black? WTF is this? I mean, they'll tell you in a heartbeat what tribe they are from, but they won't own up to their black blood?

I ask because I keep seeing "Latino heritage month" and "Black history month". Don't take this as my complaining please. I'm genuinely curious if there is such a thing. I'd like to find a time to celebrate my heritage and gather with others who would like to as well, but it doesn't seem like there are many events groups or festivals celebrating much European heritage. I mean, there's Italian and Irish, and I'm Irish, but I'm German, Swiss, Scottish, French, and English too and in school, people were skeptical about letting European Americans celebrate their heritage, although minorities could celebrate theres. Please don't take offense, I just wonder if there's anything in any of the states anyone lives in where people get together and celebrate, or anything along those lines? Just interested in hearing about it, I'd love to get involved.

Altruism: the principle or practice of unselfish concern for or devotion to the welfare of others (dictionary.com)

Some (but not all) Christians seem to claim title on altruism & that without belief in God, atheists & agnostics have no concept of morality. However, many of these same Christians do 'altruistic' deeds in order to get into Heaven.

Doesn't that count as 'selfish', and therefore not count as altruism as defined above?

Is it offensive to call someone a spoiled brat because their parents buy them more things than yours do?

What do you consider to be a spoiled brat?

Where do you draw the line between being a spoiled brat or just getting what you want?

The protestant church has been around for 400 years after it broke away from the Church that Jesus apostles founded.

It was founded after a crazy jew hating monk decided he didnt like some of the corruption in the church, poor comunication and stuborness on both sides meant he left.

After that there were 5 different denominations that were seperated from the Truth. They took parts out of the bible that didnt fit with their new ideology and created a new one that was never meant to be the bible. (more like a half bible with hlf truths)

So today with this half bible (often looked at a God the Bible) we now have 37,000 different denominations all with different interpretations and claim that theirs is the absolute truth.

Isint that a bit of a mess when there is still the Church that the disciples created with the exact same style and structure as you would have seen in the first century.

Someone I know, more of an acquaintance than a friend, is about to leave for a tour of duty in Iraq. I would like to thank him for his service and wish him the best, but what is a good way to say it? I don't want to say good luck or best wishes...those sound a little too lighthearted for the occasion and I'm not too religious, so I feel awkward saying I'll be praying for him.

Thanks!

When I hit the showers at the rec center where I workout I always find myself in an awkward position because at the same time the kids from swimming lessons are finishing up and ending up in the showers too, and since these are younger children it is very often that their moms end up in the men's room too. Sometimes moms are everywhere helping their kids take a shower or dress them up. All these women in the men's showers make me feel uncomfortable because I am walking around naked in front of them and I am not sure if I am inappropriately exposing myself? I have no problem with them seeing me naked but I am not sure if I make them feel uncomfortable and they are just there to help their kids. Trouble is that this is the only hour I can shower because I need to get to work from there. Should I be more conservative and wear shorts?

I am not saying that the bible is not useful it certainly is but it clearly was never meant to be interpreted individualy.

Peter clearly said that the Bible was not to be interpreted by individuals. Why, well when that happens everybody comes to a different conclusion because they dont read it in light of what the first believers did.

Even after Luther rebeled against God there were 5 different denominations that disagreed with each other within a few months.

i just cant see anywhere in the bible where it says that the bible is the sole authority,

I know in timothy it talks about Scripture being beneficial but Paul is talking about the old testement as the new one wasnt written.

I know this often falls on brainwashed ears but doesnt anyone have any reasoning beyone just being told what to believe.

My neighbors are sucking up to me badly. But they are in a dispute with other neighbors and I feel they are just trying to get me to cavalier with them against the others. Should I aid these people in their time of need even though this dispute might bring negative output to my life? Or should I just refuse to engage anybody in negativity?

If you had to give it a percentage, what would you say the Italian language and Spanish are similar.
The reason why I'm asking is that there are a lot of Spanish words in Italian vocabulary, or the other way around.
By the way, which language is older than the other because one had to copy the other since there are a lot of similar words and sounds.

To our friends who have become family
May you be blessed with the same
love and care you've given us.

Gary, my husband, Ruth and Rachael, our beautiful girls, and myself would like to thank you for all the kind emails and support when we were overseas, we are now back in Australia and safe

We went to Mass on Sunday and asked the Priest to say a prayer for the area where we came from as there is so much violence and death there and pray for the people that are still there, he dedicated the Mass to this area, I cannot say where this is but I think you know

Thank you God for friends

Have you prayed to stop all the turmoil that is happening in the world today?

If not, why?

Why do people choose to believe some supposed "prophets of God" but not others? Their only credibility lies in who they could originally convince and the era in which they lived. If there were a true prophet today, nobody would believe him or her.

I like guys, and recently, I'm starting to like ladies. I guess I would be considered bicurious. In conversations with some friends, I have said that I like both. Is it wrong for me not to announce to the whole world and declare my 'label'? I know what I feel, does the rest of the world need to know all my business?
