No, everything has a fair reason but to say an irrational fear or intolerance to jesus sounds a lot like an accusation.
Christians and athiests lack alot in communication because each sees their point of view as right and are determined to change the other persons view. This is the biggest obstacle in the athiest-christian tug-of-war.
We need to understand that to athiests, christians appear to be classing themselves as a higher race, which creates a hierachy in thinking and this feels like a put down for athiests because their point of view is being put down as unholy and comdemned to hell.
In this modern world, for example in australia, we are taught that our opinion counts and that we are free to express our beliefs and ideas and to act how we want in a civilised manner.
Then comes christianity, and i have found a lot of christians to say to me, 'if you don't follow the lord your god than you will go to hell', wow! that really hurts! that just makes we think, how self-righteuos do they think they are to say that?
I'm not against christianity and i realise that christians only want to spread love and peace but i think that there is a better way that christians can go about introducing christianity to athiests than to put them down.
It is just like back in primary school when the school bully called you names and they hurt, i bet you made up you mind that you didnt like that person and then you tried to avoid them at all costs, i would say this is the viewpoint of most athiests to christians.

This question really doesn't make sense. How can someone be afraid of something when they don't believe it exists? It probably sounds just as ridiculous to an Athiest as it would sound to you if somone asked you why you're so afraid of the giant purple people eaters.

Please be nice. Jesus said that we should love our neighbors. He never said it's ok to tease our neighbors because of their beliefs.

Why do you think they're afraid of Jesus? Care to share your thoughts on this or reasons that you believe such a thing?

I am not afraid of Jesus. He does not and never did exist.

I am afraid of those who do things in his name. At last count they had murdered around 1 billion people in his name in crusades, holy wars, witch burnings etc.

Why would you not be afraid of such evil? It outstrips anything the world has ever seen. Its simply vile.

Any person who is dead does not frighten me. Jesus died 2,000 years ago and I am not afraid of him. I am intolerant of religion, Christianity included.

AFRAID???

I'm sure that you've heard THIS one:

Jesus walks into this inn, throws three nails & a hammer on the counter, and asks the innkeeper:

"CAN YOU PUT ME UP FOR THE NIGHT???"
