I mean, in reality all you have is the speculation written down in an ancient set of books written by people who had no way to prove what they were writing, and still have no way of proving today. If you can't prove it, there's no way to know that you aren't being misled.

When you talk about faith being the reason you know something is true, you are really just saying that you can't prove it, but you hope it is true. This is dangerous thinking, because if your well being is dependent on it, you really should have some proof that what you place your faith in is true. I know some of you like to think that your particular holy book contains the truth, but it really doesn't.

Think of it this way, would you allow someone to operate on your insides, knowing that the book they're using is two-thousand years old and does not contain any information that has been proven to be true? What if their patients died soon after, almost every time, because "it was just their time to go"?

(False) Prophet, fisherman (for people / souls), roman legionnaire (like his father), baker (because it is said 'lord, give us our daily bread')... The man must've come by money one way or another, or did he raid lots of temples "ousting merchants" (and keep the loot for himself) ?

I am not trying to preach here, I am always amazed as I read the commentaries each day in my devotion how clearly some things are stated and how often they answer questions on here like " do you believe in sin and what is it ?"
Ephesians 5:15-21 Message version biblegateway.com
There are many ways of abetting, or taking part in the sins of others; by commendation, counsel, consent, or concealment. And if we share with others in their sins, we must expect to share in their plagues.

I recently listened to a discussion about American English on British talk radio. The conclusion drawn was, that American English just doesn't have any humor. There are no funny American expressions, etc.

The only positive thing that could be said for it was the fact that it's very functional. Someone once said that American is a 'language that rolls up its sleeves, spits in its hands, and does its job'.

Now, I must say I tend to agree with this, but maybe you know of funny words and expressions that are American English.

I have heard some Christians say that they believe in evolution, but they make an exception for humans. They believe that the Judeo-Christian God created people in their current form.

What our your beliefs?

i am sincerely asking this question with no offense please. i find it difficult to have a religious debate with catholic people. most cant back up reasons they believe certain things that aren't bible based. i find some catholics i've talked with quite closed minded about even discussing things saying "thats just the way it is" and end the conversation. my question is: when you are young in catholic church classes, do they scare you in some sort of way as to think there is no salvation outside of that church no matter what you do?

There's a male I'm acquainted to through work and this means that we sometimes meet to discuss issues concerning work. With time we have began talking casually a little bit. When I am near this male he is tough and well composed almost to the point of never laghing or smiling. But I've noticed that whenever we have to communicate via telephone he becomes very nervous that it affects his speech. He quite simply becomes a very different person from the one I know through face to face contact. What exactly is going on here/inside him/with him?

I have asked a few questions on here that I have had helpful answers too. So here is a big one. I live in Oakland County Michigan, the city of Pontaic. All my life I have wanted to reach out and help people and make a difference. I have done ton's of reasearch and have found that there aren't enough shelter's, orphanages, or hotlines that actually help people. At least not in my city or county. They all want payment and send the people they are "helping" to someone else. I believe that when someone comes to you for help, then you do whatever you can to help that person. I know people think that all homeless people are bad but I have found that not to be the case always. My question is .... I want to make an organization or a house for people that have been abused, raped, run away, homeless, sucidal, have a child they don't want, a place that parents who have had enough can bring their child and get help....ect. To really make a difference and help people. Non Profit

I think that such topics as pornography and Globalization would be of interest--please feel free to express any opinions you may have regarding these topics. If you don't express your opinions, others will EXPRESS THEM FOR YOU! Do you prefer economic imperialism or Islamization--or maybe you like others telling you what to do and how to think!
