Judaism believes that only you can be responsible for your sins. Nobody else can take them on or ask forgiveness on your behalf. Yes, They used to do animal sacrifices SOMETIMES, but most sacrifices were a mix of flour and oil. Still, sacrifice cannot atone for sin (and human sacrifice in the jewish faith is ABHORRED by God). To atone for sins, a person must do teshuva, which includes: 1. recognizing the sin [knowing you did wrong] and feeling remorse for it 2. asking forgiveness of the wrong by the person you wronged (example: if you broke a Jewish law, you apologize to God, but if you broke your neighbor's favorite flowerpot, you must apologize to your neighbor for no one else can forgive you) 3. try to right the wrong you did--if you broke the flowerpot, either buy a new one or try to repair the old one sufficiently 4. actively resolve and try not to commit the wrong again--if you broke a law, create a reminder for yourself so that next time the opportunity comes up, you will remember.

Christianity believes to get forgiveness from your sins, you need to ask Jesus because he sacrificed himself for the sins of the world. Judaism thinks that this is crazy.

Calm down..cease with the caps...The Jewish Torah is the same five books as the KJV Pentateuch collectively. These are Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Deuteronomy and Numbers. In Genesis...the very first law is..."Of this tree...you will not eat or you will die..." Yet, Adam and Eve both ate of that tree and instead of paying the due wages for sin or asking for forgiveness (instead they hid, blamed each other, the devil and even God Himself..."this woman YOU made me...) they were shown mercy and grace...God (Jesus suprisingly...cuz no man has seen the Father)...simply took the life of what had have been a pure animal...none had been defiled at that time...and made coverings for their nakedness. So yes, if you don't want to pay for your sins...since sin resided in your blood..and all corruption...then someone has to pay. The wages for sin is death...it always has been and always will be. Jesus paid that...not only so you could live...but so the burdensome, misused blood sacrifice could cease. Jesus giving His life for His children had always been the plan..that is why even the book of Moses fortold of it in symbology and the prophets following....the sin offering was done in the stead of Christ while people waited for Him. His blood carried all that sin of mankind and the entire world. When you stand before God you are either marked with it or you are not. Like the Passover Lamb in Exodus. All things point to Christ. Of course Jews must believe it, coz from their great ....grand father, From Moses time, the jJew's tradition was to give an offering to God to take away their sins by killing the animals and burn its flesh, blood, fat and skin even its intestine

But after the new commandment, the christians believe that Jesus as the son of God and as the lamb of God, being crucified to redeem humans from their sins. Why must blood? Coz there is a soul in blood. For sin pays its wage--death; but God's free gift is eternal life in union with Christ Jesus

So human's life had redeemed by blood (soul) of Jesus.

You dont need to be worried, coz this Jesus - that had died - had rose again and now He is still alive - coz His soul is God's soul.

Youre forgetting 1 key Biblical principle. The wages of sin equals DEATH. (Romans 6:23)

Therefore blood is a symbol and metaphor of both death and atonement. Therefore, since God views us as precious and wants to give us a way to repent, we can TRANSFER that wrath onto something else so there is still the death sin calls for, but its atoned for and it doesnt have to be you. That is why Jesus is both referred to as the sacrificial lamb AND the high priest, because he serves as an intermediary.

Its no different than if you drove your car through your neighbors living room and spent the next year paying it off. (atoning for it) If you didnt have the money to pay for it and he takes you to court you may lose your own house! Jesus in this analogy would be like the insurance company that pays the damage because you have made your premiums.

God is a God of justice as well as mercy. If God didn't punish the guilty, he would be a joke. But he does punish the guilty. Unfortunately all are guilty. So he required a substitution for our lives so that he could extend mercy to us. That is why there was sacrifice under the old covenant and that is why Jesus gave his life for us under the new.

No it makes perfect sense. YOU do not think it is fair and in your arrogance assume that because it does not fit with your views it must be wrong. Whatever sins must die, that is the gist of it. If something sins then the almighty judge has declared that something must die, because sin is imperfection and he can not allow imperfection in his presence. In his mercy he has devised a way for the only thing truly alive and made in his image to live even after he has sinned by transferring that sin to something else, first to an animal and later to the Christians by Christ taking that sin from you as the ultimate scapegoat.

Hello me.. :)

It is because Cain took Abel's life and his blood was spilled upon the ground.. :(

Jesus was not used as a spectacle..but as a way for us to find Peace, Love, Joy, Forgiveness, Kindness, Gentleness and have a humble heart..He was a means to end blood sacrifices forever.. :)

The Lord gave me this poem..it sums up, what you may want to know.. :)

BECAUSE HIS LOVE HAS SET ME FREE

Jesus means to world to me..
Because His love has set me free..

Not to fear the way I used to do..
But to walk with Him and be renewed..

His love I can never repay..
For the terrible pain He suffered that day..

Not for Himself did He die..
But for "Everyone" He was crucified..

So please don't turn your backs to the Savior's Cry..

It wasn't just for me, but for "You" He died..

Author: GOD

In Jesus Most Precious Name..
With ~Love~ your "Friend"..In Christ.. :)

it has to do with justice God is a just God and he cannot just let things slide other wise he would not be just and that would not be fair. you live in a society that also demands justice is it fair for a murderer to go free is it fair for a rapist to go free i would say not all injustices must be paid for.

2007-09-17 07:33:08 · answer #9 · answered by Anonymous · 1 1

Because mercy cannot rob justice. Justice has to be paid in full.

Justice is a foreign concept with alot of people nowadays since we see it practiced so little. But the demands of justice are harsh and someone has to pay the price. If justice were robbed then God would be a liar and cease to be God.

So God did the merciful thing. He took upon Himself our sins. He paid for our sins with His life. That way justice could be satisfied and mercy could be extended to those who desired and accepted it.
