the neighbor down the road just brought food over to my house. he is single and so is my mom. Did he bring it over cause he had extra?
he said it was extra but my mom doesn't know what to think of it since no one has ever done that.

He brought it because he had extra and in some parts of the country it's a nice thing to do with your neighbors. Your mom should return the favor sometime. If he had come to scope her out, he could have done it dozens of ways besides showing up with food, so tell her not to get creeped out.

It could be that he is trying to establish a friendship with your mother. It's normal for some neighbors to prepare a little extra food on purpose for the sake of being nice to their next neighbors when they bring it over. I can't say I've seen cases where someone a block or two away brought food over to someones' house unless they are already established friends.

Excuse me... but I would be cautious..
if u don't really no this person..
I would think he must like ur mom or is getting to know the family... do he sit and visit with all of u or what?
He has extra food from what???
this sounds a bit strange to me... but maybe he was just looking for an excuse to come over to check things out..
If ur mom likes him.. I would start slow .. sometimes things can get sticky between neighbors.. so just invite him over for a cook out in the yard or something..
maybe he just had good intentions... I dunno.. but u have to be weary of people today..
take care..

Several reasons--he's interested in your Mom or he thought this might be a nice way to break the ice and meet a neighbor. It may be that he felt lonely and wanted to share a good meal he had prepared and be complimented for his hard work.
Sometimes single people miss being told that their cooking or the job they're doing is good or really worth the effort.
Whatever the case--be nice and friendly and, you never know, he may end up closer to your family if there are sparks between your mother and him!

It's really sad that the world we live in has caused us to question what used to be a common gesture of neighborhood friendliness. Hopefully, he's a nice man who is a little lonely who just wanted to get better acquainted with your family.

He brought it over to get to know your Mom better. or It is also just exactly what he said, made too much and thought he'd share. sometimes acts of kindness leave us baffled!
I think it's best to accept with thanks .If it's mom that's peaked his interest than you'll find out soon enough. Good Luck and enjoy PS i hope he's a good cook lol

He wants to make friends. I've done that many times over the years, and for me it never meant anymore than that. If you live in a rural area, perhaps he's feeling isolated and lonely.

love is in the air. He is bring the food over to have an excuse to see your mom...and, if your mom wants to see him again, she should invite him over for coffee and cake or a light lunch, or perhaps a little drinkie....

Probably mostly to be nice. It's hard to cook for one and he probably didn't want it to go to waste. He might also be interested in getting to know your mom, even just as a friend.
