To our friends who have become family
May you be blessed with the same
love and care you've given us.

Gary, my husband, Ruth and Rachael, our beautiful girls, and myself would like to thank you for all the kind emails and support when we were overseas, we are now back in Australia and safe

We went to Mass on Sunday and asked the Priest to say a prayer for the area where we came from as there is so much violence and death there and pray for the people that are still there, he dedicated the Mass to this area, I cannot say where this is but I think you know

Thank you God for friends

Have you prayed to stop all the turmoil that is happening in the world today?

If not, why?

I think about the places I've lived in, and when i do, I pray.

Currently am traveling back and forth to West Africa. If the last country I was in was squalid, then the next is going to be even worse. I'm getting closer and closer to the edge of chaos and inhumanity.

But I do want to thank you for reminding me, I should be remembering all the men and women I work and live with, when I take my prayers to the throne of the King. Much of the misery we see is man-made, and I know only He can offer the answers. I also am grateful that He can still look at us, and see how we've vandalized His creation, how we allow His children to be oppressed, and still marvel that He continues to want to love us. I praise Him for the promise of His return, when the day comes when He will right the wrongs, and serve justice to the oppressors.

I was not one who knew about your plight! Had I? I would have surely prayed for you all!

In answer to your question about praying for the "turmoil" in the world, Yes, I have been and I will continue to do so! It is our responsibility to take care of this world which God so graciously provided.

Man, not God, has brought about the turmoil in which you speak. Only God, can guide us out of this!

I have, in my own way, but I've also tried to express what I want to see happen in the world by being respectful, tolerant, loving and peaceful myself. I'm struggling to be the change I want to see happen.

ps I am very happy for your safety, even though I do not know you or your circumstances. You seem to be truly blessed people.

Honestly, no.
I am working on my own life right now. It's been pretty messed up for awhile, and I have to take care of me. I don't think praying helps others, but I do think it has a meditative calming effect on the mind of the one who is praying.
So if it works for you, go ahead and pray.
It doesn't harm anyone.

I just did, in the coldness of the garden, lit by a star filled sky.
It is almost too much to bear sometimes. Why He should love us so much.

we can only pray...but most of all, let us accept and understand that they (these turmoils) are not God's works...have you read about Job in the bible?

No. Because I don't pray, as I find the act to be apprehensive, counterproductive, and irrelevant since I don't believe in deity.

No, because if I can't do anything to help a given situation, I admit it, instead of talking to myself so that I can feel like I'm helping.

Welcome back :)
