God's existance can not be scientifically prooved or disprooved since it's existence would go way beyond our scientific level of understanding. Those trying to disprove God's existence depend therefore on pyschology, sociology and anthropology to argue their point. But Richard Dawkins is neither a psychologist, sociologyis or anthropologist. So, he is supporting arguements that are not his field of study and using his reputation as a scientist to persuade people of their accuracy. Why should a pure scientist know anymore about the social sciences than the rest of us. It's not the field they study or work in.

I have interest in mythologies, but I am sorely lacking in Mayan, Aztec and Inca mythologies.

I have pretty good lists of mythologies and polytheistic dieties, but I am sorely lacking knowledge in the Aztec, Mayan and Inca mythologies.

Can someone point me to a good book or website?

I just got my temple recommend last Sunday (YAY!!!), and I'm going with my Young Women group to the temple to do baptisms for the dead (YAY!!!), and I was kind of confused as to what you do. Is it like a normal baptism? (I kind of remember mine, but it was five years ago, so not that well.) Are there any special things I should do? How should I dress--is it OK to just wear my school uniform shirt (a plain white or navy blue polo) and a dressy skirt? Or should I wear something fancier? Thanks in advance!

There are many specific, documented sightings, drawings, etc. of dinosaurs, many of them dating before 1841, when they were supposedly discovered.

The Bible mentions at least 3 dinosaurs: Leviathan (a fearless, coiling sea serpent), Behemoth (a land-dwelling giant creature with tail like a cedar), and a flying serpent (pterosaur).

Yet why does "science" reject this, refuse to explain it, and say there is no evidence? I am a scientist.

Is there anything you feel you can do to stop your self-fulfilling 'apocalypse' from affecting the rest of us? Can you get along at all?

Christians and Muslims seem to be the main combatants, but of course you both damn and demonize anyone who doesn't share either of your faiths, this makes you even more dangerous.

Can you do better? Pledge or not?.

I was brought up Catholic but recently lost all belief and now class myself as atheist. I do not believe in any deity or higher being.

However, recently when I`ve been upset by events in the news (or personal life) I`m finding it hard because I feel like I want to pray for someone i.e. somebody who died or is suffering.
But then I really ,really don`t think there is anyone to pray to and I feel even worse.

I suppose I`m trying to say that I find it hard sometimes without having the comfort of any type of god to appeal to in hard times.

Have any other atheists ever felt this way?
How do you cope when faced with tragic news?

I have always been to the Catholic mass and just don't go. I can't find it in me to go... I was raised in a Catholic school and my father I think believes in God- ANIYWAY what I'm asking is, when I was a teenager I was dating this guy who brought me to church with his family and dear Lord it was so enlightening. Instead of a priest, it was just a regular guy standing up there, talking about, of all things, celebrating WOMEN and then he moved on and the rest of his sermon was very positive, none of this doom and gloom that I was used to. Everyone had a little paper they were filling out that coincided with sermon... I know for a fact it was Christian, I think it may have been Baptist? Any ideas what kind of church it was?

I think these ministries are worth billions in cash and assets. They all preach God's wealth for us. Don't get me wrong, I love them all, but wouldn't it be cool if one Sunday, instead of the 20,000 person congregation tithing, the ministry handed out a check to each member in the amount of $10,000? That would be practiceing what they preach, yea?

I know gay men can adopt, get lesbians pregnant, donate sperm to surrogates and play the role of *uncle* and have the occasional visit to their kids, but on the whole, do many of us gay guys really give up the idea of kids for the sake of thinking that because we're gay we wouldn't make good fathers?

Do you care you'll most likely never have children?

I just read the above article and though it would be interesting to see the various reactions to it here on R&S.

It begins talking about a Christian Teen Boy who said he had to stop listening to the Beatles!!!! The Beatles? The "All You Need Is Love" Beatles?

Please take a look and share any thoughts you may have with me and the rest of good ol' R&S.

Strange question to ask I know but it was after I asked a question regarding this girl that I thought of it.
http://myspacetv.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=15886353

To most men this girl would be both very pretty and sexy. However after reading about her wanting an abortion at 36 weeks you realise she is not a nice person.
However she's still pretty and sexy.If she is a horrible person that doesn't change the fact she is a hottie. I mean I'd shag her!

"Treat others as you would have them treat you."

This rule has been stated by many cultures and in many religions, but stated in different ways. The meaning, however, remains the same.

I actually have a pretty extensive list, but I would like to hear some from the members. I would enjoy finding new ways that this rule was said.

Do you know any? I would also appreciate a source to be listed.
