I just got my temple recommend last Sunday (YAY!!!), and I'm going with my Young Women group to the temple to do baptisms for the dead (YAY!!!), and I was kind of confused as to what you do. Is it like a normal baptism? (I kind of remember mine, but it was five years ago, so not that well.) Are there any special things I should do? How should I dress--is it OK to just wear my school uniform shirt (a plain white or navy blue polo) and a dressy skirt? Or should I wear something fancier? Thanks in advance!

its no big deal your school uniform will be fine, you'll be changing out of it quickly any way, no worries they should provide towels etc, (to be safe ask the people who scheduled the dead baptism event) bring a few basic toiletries for cleaning up afterwards the place should have showers and changing rooms.

The actual dead baptisms are fast, in,out, in, out, the officiator doesn't mess around and so just pay attention and be ready to hold your breath at the right times. Depending on how large your group is you may do a dozen or 20 or more it varies.

It is like a basic baptism but super sped up.

hope this helps :-)

Regular church dress is fine. Unless you are at one of the small temples, you will get a white jump suit. In addition to the baptisms, you will probably also do as many confirmations. This is also a special moment also, because each person will receive the Gift of the Holy Ghost. In our temple a member of the Presidency likes to have a short talk about the experience.

You will be fine going is any cloths that you would wear to sacrament meeting. You will be expected to be 100% reverent. So just be still unless someone asks you a question then answer softly. This isn't like going to a temple session so the comments about garments is out of line. Personally I don't believe in what you are about to do. I believe it is totally unnecessary. For the Lord Himself taught us that the night is coming when no man can do work..John 9:4 But you are very young now and need time to allow yourself to be taught by the Holy Ghost. I will pry for you that that day will come uickly and truth enters you heart and mind.. Jim

The attire you wear to church is the considered the proper attire for the temple. It is just like normal baptisms you just get dunked a lot more. Any other questions you may have can be asked while there the temple will have people there to help you and answer any questions you may have. I would recommend that you pray before going. You could also talk to your young womens adviser and I am sure that she would have many answers for you as well.
