I have been divorced low these many years. Being married was the biggest mistake I made in my life. My temperament is such that I do not fit well in that structured an environment. I need space to stretch my wings and fly. And am definitely not a nester.

I vote for married. I have enjoyed my life as a married man. I got
married young 18 at the time. I have never wanted to be single again. If we both live another month we will have been married 56 years. We still enjoy life and look forward to many more years together.

Of all the women I have known, only 3 fit the bill of what I wanted in a wife and all 3 were similar in back ground and personality. I married #3. #1 is a widow. #2 is divorced. We've been married over 38 years now. First one said our marriage would never work between she and I because I came from a 'broken home.' Number 2 didn't want to marry a sailor. My wife was with me in 2 of the 3 countries I've been stationed in. Number 2...furthest she'd been away from home (eastern shore Maryland) is Washington, D.C. (oh, and I took her to the Luray Caverns, Va). She thinks that everywhere I went (over 30 countries...some more than once) my wife and sons went with me! I've never let on they didn't.

What happened is exactly what should have happened.
but...if I were to live my life over again (I wouldn't choose to do so) I'd do alot of things differently including marriage.
Relationships are the source of compromise, negotiation
and stress. Statistics show that unmarried women live longer than anyone else, happily married men are second.
I'd wait until I was much older , choose carefully and be much more assertive from he get- go, if I married at all.

When you first marry you go throught the honeymoon period which is great. then we go through the working period with the kids, this is the hard part. when the kids have grown up and have left the nest this should now be the easy part. when we get old and look back as ask ourself if it was worth it, I must say if both partners are still together in old age it must be wisdom that have brought them both there. Love come and goes, when love goes wisdom comes along to most people.
Best Wishes

I wouldn't remain single, I think marriage is wonderful, sometimes challenging and aggravating. But at least I have a partner, friend, lover, and sometimes a handy man(if I'm lucky..lol). I know singles can have this too, but to me marriage just makes it all the better. I know one thing, I would hate to be single and trying to date in todays world.

Hard to say, but after only a year it's close to "remained single." How about yourself?
