I was recently reading The Deathly Hallows on the bus and some guy kept interupting me telling me that it's of the Devil. With all the real problems in the world, why do people concern themselves with such nonesense?

Would you trade intelligent design in classrooms for universal healthcare and food for the poor?

The conservative Christians would get pseudo-science. Everyone would get healthcare and food.

Hypothetically, would you take that deal?

How can a small civilization of souls grow? Or is it just a few souls the ones that keep on "finding" new bodies? I don't get it.

Since you are opposed to war and the military, are you for or against freedom?

since you benefit from freedom without supporting the means by which freedom is preserved, are you not just a bunch of moochers?

here you bask in the freedom of america, while at the same time condemning and pointing your finger at the military for keeping our country safe.

i think your church should be ashamed of itself, for its high and mighty attitude. if everybody in this world followed your philosophy, the whole world of passivists would fall to corrupt dictatorships, just because they refuse to fight back. and good luck trying to practice your religion in such an environment.

Where did the story of the twelve apostles come from? It appears that in its earliest version, the story was understood to be an allegory. The first time that twelve apostles are mentioned is in the document known as the Teaching of the Twelve Apostles. This document apparently originated as a sectarian Jewish document written in the first century C.E., but it was adopted by Christians who altered it substantially and added Christian ideas to it. In the earliest versions it is clear that the "twelve apostles" are the twelve sons of Jacob representing the twelve tribes of Israel. The Christians later considered the "twelve apostles" to be allegorical disciples of Jesus.

7 The crank-shaft is a device which translates rotary into linear motion and is central to much of the machinery in the modern world, not least the internal combustion engine. One of the most important mechanical inventions in the history of humankind, it was created by an ingenious Muslim engineer called al-Jazari to raise water for irrigation. His 1206 Book of Knowledge of Ingenious Mechanical Devices shows he also invented or refined the use of valves and pistons, devised some of the first mechanical clocks driven by water and weights, and was the father of robotics. Among his 50 other inventions was the combination lock.

8 Quilting is a method of sewing or tying two layers of cloth with a layer of insulating material in between. It is not clear whether it was invented in the Muslim world or whether it was imported there from India or China. But it certainly came to the West via the Crusaders. They saw it used by Saracen warriors, who wore straw-filled quilted canvas shirts inste

"They're standing on the corner
and they can't speak English.
I can't even talk the way these people talk:
Why you ain't,
Where you is,
What he drive,
Where he stay,
Where he work,
Who you be...

And I blamed the kid until I heard the mother talk.

And then I heard the father talk.

Everybody knows it's important to speak English
except these knuckleheads.

You can't be a doctor
with that kind of crap coming out of your mouth.

In fact you will never get any kind of job
making a decent living.

People marched and were hit in the face with rocks
to get an education,
and now we've got these
knuckleheads walking around.

The lower economic people
are not holding up their end in this deal.

These people are not parenting.
They are buying things for kids.
$500 sneakers for what ? ?

And they won't spend $200 for Hooked on Phonics.

I am talking about these people who cry
when their son is standing there in an orange suit.

Where were you when he was 2 ? ?

Where were you when he was 12 ? ?

Where were you when he was 18,
and how come you didn't know
that he had a pistol ? ?

And where is the father ? ?
Or who is his father ? ?

People putting their clothes on backward:
Isn't that a sign of something gone wrong?

People with their hats on backward,
pants down around the crack,
isn't that a sign of something ? ?

Or are you waiting for Jesus
to pull your pants up?

Isn't it a sign of something
when she has her dress all the way up
and got all type of needles [piercing]
going through her body?

What part of Africa did this come from??

We are not Africans.
Those people are not Africans;
they don't know a thing about Africa.

With names like Shaniqua,
Taliqua and Mohammed
and all of that crap,
and all of them are in jail.

Brown or black versus the Board of Education
is no longer the white person's problem.

We have got to take the neighborhood back.

People used to be ashamed.
Today a woman has eight children
with eight different 'husbands' --
or men or whatever you call them now.

We have millionaire football players
who cannot read.
We have million-dollar basketball players
who can't write two paragraphs.

We, as black folks, have to do a better job.
Someone working at Wal-Mart with seven kids,
you are hurting us.

We have to start holding each other
to a higher standard..
We cannot blame the white people
any longer."

I have been going to church all my life and now I'm doing inapproproate stuff. The kids get so bored we just sit in the back and read. Or text message. Or sleep. Or do light socializing. I bring books to church that have nothing to do with religion ( like fiction or investing basics) because sermons are mind numbing. Most of the kids are there only because there parents make them come. Alter call lost all its meaning because they make us go every sunday regardless of weather we want to or not. We are all teenagers/ young adults who have lost all intrest in church. And it seems our anciet pastor and the old ladies have no idea what to do / are so concerned with what they think is right they only get on our cases for not "giving our hearts to the lord". NO one give a rats butt. Typical pentecostal church.

I just want to know if anyone is here who can relate. I know my church cant be the only church with kids who dont care. I'm practically an agnostic who is forced to observe.

A new guy moved into our flat the other day, and we were talking about movies and I mentioned what my favourite one was, but he thought it was a stupid movie and continously took the piss out of me about it for the whole evening. I think he was trying to be funny, but I found it offensive and rather rude, especially considering he only moved into our flat a few days ago and I've only talked to him once before.
Am I being silly?

the purpose of the church is to teach.

so why do they think they need to go door to door to teach?

thats like forcing church on everyone.

if non-believers wanted to learn about your religion, they would go to your church... take the hint.

One of my best friends is about to turn eighteen, and we met when she was thirteen and I was twelve. Her and I were very close back then, I thought I was "in love" with her, which I doubt I ever was, but it was more of experimenting. Now, I know for a fact I am now bisexual and her and I have been friends all this time.

She insists that I'm, "So straight," and when I tell her that I don't date girls much because it's complicated with me being half-way in the closet she says, "What was the gender of the last five people you've made out with?" Like that makes her better. I don't care what people think, I do like women a lot, but I date more men because it's less complicated.

It only bothers me that SHE thinks it. How do I get her to start treating me like someone her own age besides that girl she met back in middle school?

you should try to do so without taking your faith down with you. I see too many Christians causing more anger towards Christianity, too many Muslims adding to the already bad (and innacurate) image so many have of Islam, atheists creating more confusing and lack of understanding over your choice not to believe etc... So, I want to know, if you want to act immature, hateful and ignorant, can you please do so and leave your religion out of it? You are causing more harm than good.
