The snake that tempted Eve was called Satan the devil. And yes this was the first(original)sin ever recorded in the Bible at Genesis. It is the first sin, because Adam and Eve were the first humans ever created than we as their inheritants, therefore, inherited sin and death. And Satan questioned God's authority by saying that God is a liar and actually wants them to do bad and also that if they ate from the tree of knowledge of good and bad that they would become like God and at that very moment their eyes are bound to open and they are to be like God knowing good and bad. So that is y we needed Jesus' sacrifice because he is the only one that can save us from sin and death and so we have the hope of everlasting life. Sorry that was a long explanation, I just love talking about the Bible and God and his purpose for the earth!

Satan used the snake to trick Eve. Snakes are actually very shy and run away from people. But here was this snake eating the fruit and talking to Eve. Look what it did for me a lowly snake, just think what this fruit of the knowledge tree would do for you a human.
It says he tricked her so the original sin was SAtan lying to eve. he told her you won't really die at all.
God told her if you eat of the fruit you will die.
she realized she was going to die later and said the snake it tricked me and so I ate.
The original sin was Satan telling a lie.

Satan certainly did sin by tempting Eve. It's called 'original sin' because Eve was the first human to sin.
God has no plan for the redemption of Satan and his angels. He only died and rose again to save human beings.

The only sin in the garden of eden was everyone except the snake. God lied, the lord lied, the lord god lied, eve lied and adam lied. The only creature in the garden that didn't lie was the snake. That is the sin.

Eve's sin is the same sin as the Serpent's - trying to be God. Satan tempted Eve with the chance to be God, and God banished Satan to Hell for fomenting rebellion in Heaven among the other angels.

Eve committed the first human sin.

What Eve did was part of God's plan.
How could any of us ever be truly good people if we didn't have the opportunaty to know between good and evil. Someone who has only good to choose from is not good.
What makes a person good is when given the opportunity to choose evil they choose to do good. Eve knew that, and she figured out what she had to do, for us all. Giving us all the opportunity to choose for ourselves, to become like God, and while knowing good and evil, make that choice to do good.
So while it was a sin, it was an incredibly wonderful thing she did for us all. I think she ought to be commended.

(a) Animals don't sin. They have no free will to choose their actions, with some minor exceptions, and so cannot be held to a moral standard. (b) According to tradition, it was not really a snake but the devil or Lucifer or whatever in the form of a snake. (c) The whole thing is metaphor anyway.

No. The serpent did not sin. In fact, it wasn't a sin until Adam ate. If Adam would not have ate, he could have died for Eve's sins. That's why we need(ed) Jesus.

Satan's salvation was not in question at this time either. God created man on earth to dominate over Satan on earth.

I don't see the point in that story, if god knows everything that's going to happen then why create the tree and the snake? Just to screw Eve around?
