If it is argued that the prostration signified respect and not worship, then why is it forbidden to do so now?

God does not change and must remain consistent, right?

This is aimed predominantly at christians.

A number of evangelicals have made a claim that there is no such thing as an atheist - the argument being along the lines of "to claim there isn't a God, you must be omniscient, otherwise God could be one of those things of which you have no knowledge". It sometimes leads on to "atheists are in fact theists who are lying to themselves to allow them to sin guilt-free", although the majority say that atheists are in fact agnostics.

1) What do you think about this argument?

2) For christians who dismiss the argument as fallacious, what do you think of those who do use it?

3) For christians who use this argument, are you agnostic about unicorns?

Are you happier living life as a Buddhist?
Do you get bored meditating?
Hope my question does not sound like i am mocking!
I am not, just curious!

I'm a really active person...I do practice meditation, to try to relax and feel closer to God. I think i have managed a couple of times to reach a full meditative state.

What do you do when you meditate?
What benefits do you get from it?
What is it like for you?

I would appreciate any simple explanation please.

or is there still a kind compassion for atheists? Since it's second nature and "as Jesus requested" to bear your testimony and
"spread The Gospel to all the Nations.", are you locked up or frustrated by atheists who not only don't want to hear it, but will also gladly challenge your beliefs? I've got friends on both sides of the aisle. ..but that aisle is not in a church!! How do you handle the rejection, while still maintaining your faith,
"as Jesus would do"?

This is not a trick question. I would like to hear from some devout Christians on the topic. I myself believe in practicing "Christ consciousness", but that's about where it stops for me. Your feed back please..

"For the first two hundred years of American history, wealthy white employers and white churches constantly reinforced the poor whites' ideas about their superiority over blacks due to the color of their skin. Desperately desiring some power in society, poor whites gladly claimed this role, despite the obvious flaws in this argument. In Origins of the New South, C. Vann Woodward writes, "it took a lot of ritual and Jim Crow to bolster the creed of white supremacy in the bosom of a white man working for a black man's wages" (p.211) Poor whites and blacks share similar religious doctrines, family ties and community loyalty; yet have remained separated by racial animosity."

I went to Pangels profile and stared all her questions and thumbed all her answers.

Her patient responses to questions and her gentle way with people indicate she’s a cut above the average person on Y!A There are others to be sure, and I marvel at them but the recent banning of Pangel elevates her to a new category of Y!A martyr.

So I did what I did out of admiration and respect for someone persecuted for her nature.

I propose that other’s and there are many will from now on be known as “Pangel People” the practice of supporting Pangel will be “Pangelism” and though this small jester we might at least honor a peaceful nature even if we don’t posses one ourselves.

Bless you Pangel. I don’t know how you do it sometimes. I’ve spent 30 minutes and answered a single question four or five times because my answers were so polluted by hate that I couldn’t publish it as it was and had to try again.

Thanks for the gift of a better example.

Was it not unfair for God to teach Adam the name of all things then proceed to challenge the angels to do likewise knowing full well they could not do so, and then have Adam name them in order to prove that the angels were wrong in questioning God?

Does this portray God as a deceiver?

"Of course you do realize that as a perfect (sinless) human being, he (Jesus) would not have died by any means outside of execution... he wouldn't have aged beyond about 30.

I'm hoping some of you can answer some of my questions reardomg becoming a Catholic.

Background: I'm 37, was raised agnostic (never baptised!), attended Mass many times with friends or alone.

Over the last 10 years, have attended services in Episcopal and Lutheran churches. I've concluded that there is not church in which I feel more connected to God, more vulnerable, more open to Jesus' teachings, than in a Catholic Church.

1. Why did you become a Catholic? (Why do you remain a Catholic?)

2. What teachings/practices in the Church do you struggle with? How do you deal with these struggles?

3. I find that my views regarding abortion, the death penalty, and war are consistent with Church teachings, but my views regarding gay rights are not. Is this o.k.?

4. I am married and have two young daughters. How might the Church embrace them/meet their needs, etc.?

5. What are the initial steps to becoming a Catholic?

Thank you very much

Or is it okay to quote certain scriptures when the topic at hand and said scriptures are unrelated in subject matter.

For example:

1 Corinthians: 18-20 says (NKJV)

18 Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. 19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? 20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

This scripture is speaking exclusively of "Sexual Immorality", however, many christians will quote part of these scriptures to fit their own beliefs about other such things as alcohol, drugs, cigarettes, tattoos, and body piercings.

Do you agree with this practice?
What's your opinion?

A husband a wife rent an apartment and have two school aged kids. Let's say, the family sold a possession and received a considerable amount of money for it, let's say, $3,500. The wife wants the husband to use the money to pay off debt he accrued prior to their marriage, so that they may be able to raise his credit rating and be in a better position to purchase a home.

The husband desires to use the money to put towards the purchase of hunting equipment for his upcoming hunting trip, and whatever is leftover, he will use to pay on the credit card debt he owes. The estimated amount that will be the balance after the husband makes his purchases will be about $400.

So obviously the woman is the voice of logic and reason in this scenario, but what is proper for her to do as a religion follower with a man lacking in common sense? Should she blindly submit to his selfish desires when they have a family to consider, and he is the one with the debt that needs resolution?

thumbs down will I get for this?

A lot of Christians and other religious groups say the don't believe in Witches. Does that mean we don't exist? If a Witch says they don't believe in Christians, do you cease to exist too?

Just trying to see the logic in this.
