Well I am not Buddhist I am a Christian but I still meditate. It is mentioned much in the bible you need to meditate like in Jos 1:8 The meditation stated is not necessarily "ommmmm" and clearing your mind it's meaning is prayer. I do yoga and meditate every morning.
I simply sit crossed legged hands together and pray. Usually for protection of the day, control etc.
I feel closer to God and am calmer during the day
Peaceful, overwhelming

I greatly respect Buddha, and The Dali Llama but I could not be Buddhist because, I believe sometimes reaction to the world around you is necessary rather than just passively letting things happen to you. Meditation is good for anyone though, regardless of religious belief.

I've been a Buddhist my whole life, but I'm not exactly a great one. I've got other problems that religion can't fix [or I am unable to apply to my religion due to my blasphemy-ing], so of course I'm still completely depressed. But it does make me a better person when it comes to tough situations, and helps me be happier with simple things [ie,, don't care for clothes or shopping, unafraid of death, that sort of thing.]
I don't meditate, but my dad does, and it calms him down. Meditating is sort of like sitting still and clearing your mind. It helps concentration and is, in simple terms, Pure consciousness.

During meditation I just sit there, look at the wall, and breathe. Of course, I get thoughts, when I do, I go back to concentrating on just sitting there, looking at the wall, and breathing.
Its nothing fantastic to talk about.
Questions regarding boredom, benefits, and what its like are completely irrelevant to me. I have no answer for regarding that part of your question.
That's my boring and disappointing answer.

Are you happier living life as a Buddhist?
Its not a matter of happiness, its a matter of making sense out of the world. We have to make ourselves happy.
Do you get bored...? - No, If you are bored, just acknowledge your boredom and return to watching your breathing.
What do you do...? - Just sit and focus on my mantra and breathing.
...benefits... Peace, calm and perspective.
What is it like... A peaceful calm nothingness.
