I work in Philadelphia, PA and often see women walking around with full head-to-toe religious garb on. The only visible part of their body is their eyes. I think that they are all also African Americans, but I'm not 100% sure of this. I'm guessing they are Muslim, but can't be sure. Anyone know what religion they are and what the significance of the clothing is? Is it just the women who wear this, or men too? I think I've also seen the clothing to be black or brown - any significance to that? Thanks!

any other way but the hatred of their father, God of the Buy-Bull. Why else would they feel the need to rant about their "my way or the highway to hell" beliefs! I know, this wasn't really posed as a question. I just felt the need to rant a little too.

I've invited some vendors to my company for all-day meetings. We're having lunch catered just because of the time factor. The problem is, the caterer gives us a 20 minute window of when he'll have everything set up so we don't always get to leave our meetings right when the food arrives. We've had a really bad problem with random people walking up to the food & helping themselves. I'm not talking about 1 or 2 inconsiderate people, but 20! We're only buying enough food for the 36 people attending our meetings. How do I stop these horrible people? I sent out a note inviting them to the left-overs at 12:30 so they'd know exactly when it was alright to eat what's left. By 11:30, they're starting to buzz around the cafeteria like vultures, just waiting to eat. It disgusts me! I put up a note basically telling them not to touch the food until the sign is taken down. I have to stand by the food, sometimes 30 minutes, just to make sure they don't touch it. How do I stop them?

Suppose you know a guy, we'll call him John Doe. This man is a good man, he cares for others, he helps the needy, he gives to charity, and he is always willing to listen to your problems and give good advice. Mr. Doe is an all around good guy. One beautiful sunday morning you notice that while most people on your block are heading to church, Mr. Doe is nowhere to be seen.
After church you catch up with Mr. Doe and ask him why does he not attend church? Mr. Doe answers that he does not believe in god and then walks away.
After many days of pondering and confusion the admiration for Mr. Doe now turns to pity. Does Mr. Doe deserve hell? Luckily that choice is not yours to make. Later that night you are paid a visit from an angel. The angel tells you that god has left Mr. Doe's afterlife destination in your hands. It is up to you whether he goes to heaven or hell.
Do you send the kind, gentle, selfless Mr. Doe to hell?
Or do you look past his personal beliefs and into his heart?

Imagine the following scenario: John Doe is a Christian man. He prays every day, goes to church, and lives his life by the Bible. He is totally committed to God. However, he has diabetes and due to neurological problems in his leg, he has had to have his right leg amputated at the knee. The loss of a leg has caused him to give up coaching football and has caused him great depression. One night he closes his eyes and prays that God returns his leg to him. The next day he feels a strange feeling in his leg. He gets out his camcorder and sets it up. Within an hour, a perfectly real leg has grown back and is fully functional. The entire event is captured on video. It is shown on the news around the world. Millions of atheists convert to Christianity and admit that they were wrong. Believers who once had doubts, now have no doubt whatsoever that God is real. There are still some atheists, but not many. Now: God wants us all to believe in him, doesn’t he? We all know that God has never healed an amputee. Why not? Why doesn’t God perform an undeniable miracle like this?

Gnostics claimed Yhwh was god of the law, they also said that the true God was hidden. At first, it sounds blasphemous that the Abrahamic God is a 'second-class God.' But let's look at this metaphorically. What if the Demiurge is not actually LITERALLY the God of the Old Testament; what if the Yhwh motif was used as a metaphor for the oppressive elements that claim to have adopted the law of Yhwh, and keep people down? The conclusion would then be that the Hidden God of the Gnostics on an ultimate level IS the God of the Jews, Christians and Muslims? I realise that Gnostics are said to have been against the Hebrew God; but what if YHWH is in fact a metaphor for the forces of compulsion and oppression? And the original message, originally passed to initiates in secret for fear of misinrerpretation, has indeed been misunderstood by christians; and the Gnostics were not really rebelling against Jehovah, but rather against those claiming divine sanction: the Catholic Church?

There is a peace available for ALL that surpasses ALL understanding.

"In nothing be anxious, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6,7
