I think we should explain the different religions to kids but leave it up to them if they want to be religious or not. They could check out the church setting and decide if they want to attend church or not. I think that is a great idea so we don't just automatically make them part of a religion and leave them no choice.

Christians, and again I'll say, I'm only interested in serious mature responses, please don't waste you time leaving hateful or smart as$ remarks , no one is going to be impressed.

I wanted to know if any christians believe the miracles of the bible happened word for word the way the bible describes them and why?

Also if you believe in them, why don't we see things like that today?

Here are some examples....
Burning of Sodom And Gomorrah
Moses recieving the Ten Commandments
Satan Shows Jesus all the kingdoms of the world from a mountain (the earth is round, which would make this impossible.)
Immaculate Conception
Parting of the Red Sea
The Great Flood.

Please, MATURE ANSWERS ONLY

Are these signs following you?

Mark 16:17-18: "And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they shall cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover."

They also have to thank me for letting them do that every day. If they don't, I will punish them.
Now substitute 'I', 'my', 'me' and 'mine' with 'god', 'his', 'him' and 'his'.
Suddenly, it doesn't sound so crazy to some people? Why not?

This relates to the whole gay marriage debate and such, and is especially directed towards christians, republicans, and people against gay marriage.
What I ask is this. Why do you care? if you're not gay, why is it any of your buisness? why not just let people be together??

I was riding along with my mother-in-law on her paper route to learn it. I will be subbing for her when she goes on vacation and it is one of those rural routes done in the middle of the night. So we are driving down this country road and out of nowhere this huge black dog looking thing (sort of) races out toward the front of the car. It was very black..... like VERY black. I could tell that the coat was very shiny because of the headlights reflecting off of it. I remember bracing myself to hit it. I don't know how I didn't. My mother in law saw nothing. She only heard me scream/gasp. So she made me turn around and go back. I saw it once more and the third time there was nothing but a tiny little dog that ran alongside the car. It wasn't so much what I saw though, as the feeling I got when i saw it. I can't even do this feeling justice with words. It was horrible and it lasted for probably 20 minutes or so and then it subsided.

I saw Deke's question:

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AiWORc8IL.okNfODtWSXLofd7BR.?qid=20070727094801AAQaZnS

And I realized, many Evangelical Creationists with no formal education in science still manage to be experts in everything from cosmology to biology. In particular, many of them are PhD-level experts in entropy, and the only reason MIT hasn't granted them honorary degrees is that the atheists who control academia are keeping them down.

Why can't WE aspire to the same universal understanding of all things science that our counterparts in the Evangelical Creationist movement have already achieved?

I am African American and I live in Texas. I work with several people that are from Africa and some of them treat the African American people here like crap. They treat us like we are beneath them. I had one guy to tell me that he was a prince in Africa and that he is rich. They always tell us how much better it is in Africa and how our culture here in the USA differs from theirs. If he is so rich why is he here in America working for less than being rich and if things were so much better there why didn't he just stay in Africa? Can someone please help me out on this one?

Considering the total energy in the universe is zero (a balance between negative gravitional energy and the material energy) and the total entropy is increasing (as the universe expands) and nothingness appears to be an unstable state...

I'm giving a Baby Shower for my neice. I want to use the punch bowl I gave to my mom-in-law 20 yrs ago. Before she fell asleep in death, she gave it back to me. She & I left it where she had kept it over the yrs.(1-I was staying @ her house 2-it was of Little importance, as she was losing her fight for life).
I went yesterday to get it, my bro-in-law (lives in her home-his home now) let other family members use it 10 wks., ago for a graduation party. The sis-in-law gave me the bowl & not the cups. I Know if u borrow something from some1, that is who u return it to. She & I Knew Mark(b-i-l) told me, that's how I knew they had it.She said no, the cups are delicate. & It's Mark's. After I told her it's I bought it for her,& She gave it back 2 me,
I want to know how do I handle this. She implied we (the neice, my mom-in-laws Only dghtr, 2 sons & myself) wouldn't take Care of it. I told her I don't want the set split up. Also, her argument of "it's Mark's" Does Not Hold water; see details

OK, the debate between atheists and believers has been going on for a while, and will continue until the Second Coming, where God is reveled to us (if He exists, of course)

However, atheists are usually strictly scientific beings, and do not believe anything that cannot be proven, Therefore, I would say that Atheists do not believe we have a soul, as anything other than a bag of flesh and organs would be proof of the supernatural. After all, if there was no God, who would have put the soul there?

However, if we had no souls, and our physical beings were all that consisted of Man, then why would we be having this argument? Our brains would not even consider the possibility of God, and we would all be thinking practically alike, because the only differences between humans would be varying amounts of chemicals in the brain. So, we would all be different, but much more similar than we are today, because now our soul dictates “who” we are, rather than our DNA.

SO, just the idea that the debate over God exists is, in my opinion, proof of God’s existence. Atheists, what do you think?

I just read this statistic in a paper today, and I was curious. Why do you think this is, is it societies fault? Is it a lack of personal resonsibility? What do you think the reason is.

By the way I have quite a few black friends that I love and highly respect, and a lot of them feel really ashamed by the actions of other black men, so sorry no racism just curious about why this is.
