They also have to thank me for letting them do that every day. If they don't, I will punish them.
Now substitute 'I', 'my', 'me' and 'mine' with 'god', 'his', 'him' and 'his'.
Suddenly, it doesn't sound so crazy to some people? Why not?

Just to let you know, I am not planning to do this. I didn't realise how many of you take things so literally...

Your point, simple as it was, was too sophisticated for some of those that answered.

Haven't read the other answers yet, which I usually do, but can imagine the bombardment you'll get. My first thought was you didn't think this through, did you? First thoughts will be "another Jonestown or Waco on our hands". Christianity is love, not control to the point of destruction of individuals. I'm sure you really already know this. Some people just seem to have a personal vendetta to constantly prove that God=bad. You can't prove it to christians; we know what God is.
Why does it not sound bad to some? Because they are also thinking, "Hey! I bet I CAN start my own cult!" And like I said, they want to find a reason to not believe in God.

Now, you won't get many Christians that God agree that God wants us to live like he does, that's not want the Bible says, we have to follow God's rule's not his example. Secondly, he doesn't punish us daily for not being like him. A lot of non-christians get caught up in the idea of hell as being 'punishment', but it's just the absence of God, and you won't know what that's like until you get there. I persoanlly am more concerned about living my life in not harming others than worry about speculative torment after I die.

Also, God has the evidence of having created life and the universe as proof that he deserves our reverence. I don't think you or any other person has that sort of proof of divinity behind them.

I don't think your argument is based on logic, therefore I don't consider it to be in any degree a genuine challenge to Christianity. But hey, it was an interesting question and worth debating.

So lets see here we'll get

God've decided to make all his students live their lives as God do his.

They also have to thank him for letting them do that every day. If they don't, God will punish them.

You are completely off the mark here. I hope you aren't a teacher!?

Good Luck to you though.

SORRY I OVERESTIMATED YOU SEEING MY POINT WAS IN WHAT YOU WERE SAYING. NOT IN YOUR/MY USE OF GRAMMAR.

Nice try AGAIN!

I still wish you good luck though.

It still sounds crazy, because God doesn't "make us" do anything. He gave us free will to do whatever we want. Just as you can choose to not believe He exists. But God also loves us and wants us to be with Him.

Consider this: If you have little kids, do you let them go wherever they want, even after you go to sleep? Or do you tell them they can't go out without you because you want to keep them safe from strangers? Do you let them carelessly play with a knife? Or do you tell them they can't? If they disobey you, do you just let it slide? Or do you punish them (time-out, etc.) so they learn to obey you? Once they start getting older, they learn and can figure out for themselves what is right and wrong. Once they grow up, if they were to drink & drive, killing someone in an accident, do you excuse them and let them go free, or should they be punished for disobeying the law?

God let's us choose to do what we want. But with that choice, comes responsibility for our own actions.

When you suggest that you will punish them, you forgot to mention that their punishment will be the worst possible, that it will be eternal, and that you will hold their future offspring responsible as well. Also, don't forget to say that this hurts you more than it hurts them, because it is a sign that you failed them, even though you are omnipotent and do the eternal punishments out of love.

Because Holy and REVEREND is HIS name.
Reverend means worthy of reverence. Only GOD is worthy of that.
Unfortunately, what you wrote is precisely what the frauds and phonies do...you know, the ones you hear about on the evening news.

Of course, we are supposed to emulate God-like virtues etc. but He also knows that we are sinful human beings and cannot live perfect lives. He wants us to be perfect, but he doesn't expect that we will be.

I like that :-) It does not sound crazy, but no we can't live our life like God's. We can sure try though! That is not even our purpose though, to live our life like Jesus lived his life (living with out sin) God knows we aren't going to be perfect! He knows our actions and thoughts. But we are to try to live a life like his. That is the best we can do. Showing love is one of the biggest ways!!!

if you mean that we are GOD'S students ... we have to thank GOD every day but we will not be punished if we didn't do that .... and we have to follow GOD in many things but we can't be just like him ..
maybe it doesn't sound crazy

The only thing i do find odd with religious theory is that religious people thank God for everything, yet he created this world and surely is therefore ultimately responsible for their suffering aswell. If he is all powerful and the creator- then he created suffering.
