I wonder how many of you have thought about the fact that this "I have never" series and the so-called "drinking game" idea are both violations of Community Guidelines? And very specifically, that they are going to discourage people from taking the Religion & Spirituality section seriously? I think it's time to sober up, guys!

I am a rationalist and by training and temperament, I am allergic to any set of religious dictates being imposed on my mind. Being so, I have always felt that people who follow some faiths are completely enslaved by their religious elders who are for the most part totally ignorant of logic and reason. I wonder why in the name of religion, to take recent examples, the people who profess to embrace Islam commit dastardly acts of cruelty and violence in the hope that that they will attain to martyrdom and receive pleasures in heaven, that are denied to them in actual living. Do they not realise after some reflection that there is nothing to life after we are dead, whatever the religious people might say? Do they ever stop to think that they are misguided and that they heap nothing but misery and distress on all concerned? When are theses people going to think about these matters? Please comment with reason. Thank you.

I am agnostic. I have many christian, a jewish, two islamic, and many athiestic friends. I have a christian sister and an athiest dad. I love them all, and I respect their beliefs. Now, I'm just from a small town in rural Minnesota, and I've tried to be nice about it, but seriously. You call yourself Americans (if you're not American, my argument wont work on you....sorry, but listen anyway)!? We are supposedly a country of religious toleration, but all I see here is immature banter and child-like arrogance.

I'm obviously a teenager, and if you're old and stubborn, forget it. But teens, and other youth, listen up!! Let us be the revolution that will end misunderstanding and arrogance. "What can we do?" right? Well, listen to me now, and follow my directions and pass them on. Preach tolerance! Preach love!

To those of you who wont change: I pity you.

To those of you who want to help: thank you.

Who here thinks *goodlychristian*
*chosen by grace777*
and *hypocrite exposer* is the same person?

I looked at his profile and all his "join dates" happen to be today.

Also, do you think we can just refrain from answering his questions? Seems like he gets a kick out of it by trying to get responses from us.

People who make up multiple yahoo ID's must really be insecure in themselves so how could we be sure they are secure in their own religion? I feel sorry for the honest religious folk here...must be like having an unwelcome visit from an embarrassing relative.

lets try to increase that probability by allowing your dog to pass on its work through reproduction. Lets just say the reproduction continues for a couple of billion years with every generation trying to build the same space shuttle. Please note that the dog will not only have to understand how to build it but procure by way of making every and each necessary parts. lets assume that the dog does not get any smarter from one generation to the next (which is more realistic comparison to what some people claim when this unintelligent universe put together a human being over < 4 billion years -note space shuttle is still easier to make than man let alone a fly as we still haven't figured out how to make a cell with dead matters)

It's a terrible to think that they will all die and never see the grace of God. If they would just open their minds. It's not that hard to see if they'd just look.

Whe I was a teenager and still living at home, my Mom answered the door to one of them. I heard her say "Sorry, we're Jewish". I had to laugh because there's a huge window in the front of the house and there was the Christmas tree right in front of it...

Why liberal and moderate (so called) Muslims, try to justify their sinful acts and try to modify Islam in their own way?

I think this flexibility of the option of forgiveness in Islam, according to the situation and ones intention, covers the demand of adaptability, for rest of the time, for all comming generations.

Do you think Islam is already liberal and moderate, without any further modification in it?

Apparently, this devil character was one of the angels that God had created. When Man was created, God asked these angels to bow before his creation. But this fella refused to do so because he preferred to bow down only in front of God. So God became angry with him and cast him out of Heaven; Right?

Christians won't convince atheists to change their views/beliefs and vice versa. Only something extreme, like being the sole and unharmed survivor of a plane crash could possibly make me start doubting my atheist stance (well, even then..). And it seems to me that perhaps only a Holocaust-like experience could shake most Christians' faith.

So what's the point of arguing then? Is it some sort of tribal warfare where we're trying to prove our group's superiority?
