You probably clicked on this just dying to call me a bigot. I am simply looking for understanding. Please do not think i dislike gay people i just have questions thats all

OK so any reasonable person knows that homosexuality is NOT a choice and that it is born into. That is established. However since (until very very recently with embryonic research) homosexuals will typically not reproduce because they arent attracted to the opposite sex. In evolutionary terms this could not be an advantage. Would it be fair to call homosexuality a birth defect in the same league as things like :

Male pattern baldness
A lazy eye
Third nipple

Obviously the IMPLICATIONS societally are much different but really they shouldn't be. Why can't we just look at homosexuality like baldness and is it OK to charaterize it in this way.

& I try to get along with people everywhere especially at work. This is my story and I need your serious thoughts.
Last week someone sent me a Baby Gap gift card @ work because I'm expecting but because I usually don't get my mail at home I had it sent to my work. The card was supposed to arrive last week Wednesday but I forgot about it since I had been leaving work earlier than normal. Today I asked one of the 2 girls that work at the reception about it and she said she had seen it on her deskmate's desk last week. So when she came in, I asked her and she told me she threw it away after seeming like she didn't know what I was talking about. What made me upset is she said, "I thought it was junk mail and I know junk mail when I see it." After explaining again to her that it was a card from American Express she said she'd call them and I said "let me know" and I left. Note: She just got the position internally, just left college.
Read on; I've pasted our email exchange thereafter.

Just got the following answer to a previous question.

Not entirely unusual to hear this sort of thing. A lot of christians say this, I find.

What say you?

-------
"But I think it might be a good thing if more atheists would start really reading the answers other atheists have given...not to mention some of the questions they ask.
I feel so very sorry for some of them.
It's got to be a horrible burden, carrying around all that rage.
The venting you do in forums like these doesn't really hurt anyone. Oh, a Christian might get his feelings hurt for a couple of minutes, or get mad enough to retaliate, once or twice, before he figures out that you've made a patsy of him...
But then, he gets to turn his computer off and go to bed. Ninety-nine times out of a hundred, he will have forgotten all about it by the next morning.
The angry atheist, however, has to carry his rage with him, even after he logs out.
So tragic, really."

Wondering what it is that you are missing?

Then ask Jesus how to be happy, thankfully he has already told us:

3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

Matthew Chapter 5

If one person is admitting to doing this, how many others are doing it and not admitting it?
How do you feel about this?

Some use this story as "proof" that God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah due to the homosexuality of the inhabitants. Lot's house was surrounded by the men of the towns who wanted the angels to come out of Lot's house so the men could know them. So Lot offered his daughters to the men if they would leave the angels alone. If the men 'round about the house were all homosexuals, why would Lot offer his daughters rather than himself? What homosexual would be interested in a female? It would appear that Lot viewed the crowd as heterosexuals whom he enticed with women in order to prevent them from raping and humiliating his angelic male guests.

dont you ever think that sometimes stuff just doesnt make sence? you have to have faith, like the air you breath, why out of all the planets there is we are the only onces with life on it?, nothing about life really makes sence and it never will, so why try to force it to? everything works though, and some big boom could not make it work as well as it all does. so why not try to just have a little faith?

Jimi Hendrix was truly a legend. Considered the best guitarrist of all times. He was crazy, but incredibly talented, yet most black people dont seem to even know who he was. This guy should be a role model for any Black in this country, because he never accepted the idea that blacks have to act a certain way or like certain things. He is the best guitarrist that ever lived.

You see references to this idea all the time. Christian theocracy. They take over, kill off the non-believers,etc. What kind of wacko paranoid conspiracy thing is this? How many atheists actually believe this, and of those who don't,how did this particular urban legend get started. Any idea? Please,be courteous. I'd really like to know how this one got started.
