My understanding is that some time after John wrote what he saw when on Patmos, an angle, previously not known, would come and bring the gospel....

Thought- Why would a new angel need to bring the gospel if the gospel was here already (as with the Jews or Catholics)? To me, the coming of a new angel to bring the gospel says that somewhere, the gospel has to get lost, first.... Somehow, the Jews and the Catholics didn't quite have the whole story, the full gospel.

Revelation 14:6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, 7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. 8 And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.

Revelation 17:5 And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. 6 And I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration. 7 And the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns. 8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is. 9 And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth.

You might want to watch out before you start to say that this represents the church in Rome. While it certainly could be, some cults preach that it is the church in Rome and all of her harlot daughters are the reformed churches that broke off from her.

All we can say for sure is that it represents some religious system where money and power here on earth have corrupted it. For all you know it could be some other religion that gains prominence in Rome 1,000 years from now. Maybe it will be the LDS or Jehovah's Witnesses church for example since they both diminish the person of Jesus making Him on a par with Satan.

John 1:1-3 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 ALL things were made by him; and without him was NOT ANY thing made that was made...14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

NO RELIGION.

Just the way of living of DUO--or doing unto others what you would want them to do unto you:

The “everlasting gospel” is simply a guideline of how we should treat each other so that we all have the same opportunity to experience joy and happiness, which is the reason why we exist. As he has all throughout his Revelation, John uses the term “angel” here to represent those who have been given power and authority over what goes on here upon the earth. As previously mentioned, these angels are exalted beings far more advanced than any mortal. They come from other solar systems, some from other galaxies, to oversee the planets of this solar system, assuring that all things follow their outlined course of providing happiness for those who are assigned here.

In these latter times, they have allowed the knowledge (“fire”) to come down from heaven, figuratively, to make it possible that “every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people” has the opportunity to learn of each other, and to learn the things that are necessary to promote peace and equality—the forerunners of joy and happiness.

As these latter times progress, the world will become more closely connected unlike any other time in its short human history. Through the means of communication being introduced, the day will come when every living soul will have access to knowledge; not necessarily the truth, but vast amounts of information. As we begin to experience the effects of this knowledge, we are able to discern the difference between what brings lasting happiness, and what causes our stresses and unhappiness.

All of our experience, understanding, wisdom, and knowledge that we gain in mortality, will lead us to one ubiquitous conclusion: Doing unto others what we would have them do unto us in all situations is the only way to lasting happiness—this is the “everlasting gospel” of which John speaks.

There is no religion mentioned here. It only speaks of the eternal gospel. Eternal (aiōnios) meaning since the beginning. Gospel meaning good tidings ( euaggelion)
which means proclamation of a message, a HUGE announcement. I understand it to mean the truth about everything. I don't believe God is a religion. In the end we will see ourselves as we truly are and those who believed in the way to God will be transformed into immortal bodies to live forever with Christ.

Odd question.....it's not even talking about a religion, which, consequentially, God never told us to have. Pure religion is this, according to the bible....James 1:27
Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

This being divided into sects or religions has nothing to do with what Jesus taught. What matters is that we believe who Jesus was, what He did, and what He taught. Eternal life is to know Him. John 17:3 says 3Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent. Religion as we know it today is of no consequence and fairly meaningless. What matters is our relationship with God.

I believe you mean Rev 1:4-6. Clearly, John is referring to Christians.

John next writes: “And I saw another angel flying in midheaven, and he had everlasting good news to declare as glad tidings to those who dwell on the earth, and to every nation and tribe and tongue and people, saying in a loud voice: ‘Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of the judgment by him has arrived, and so worship the One who made the heaven and the earth and sea and fountains of waters.’” (Revelation 14:6, 7) The angel is flying “in midheaven,” where the birds fly. (Compare Revelation 19:17.) Hence, his voice can be heard around the globe. Of how much greater range than any television news flash is this angel’s worldwide proclamation!

17 Everyone is urged to fear, not the wild beast and its image, but Jehovah, who is incomparably more powerful than any symbolic beast controlled by Satan. Why, Jehovah created heaven and earth, and now the time has come for him to judge the earth! (Compare Genesis 1:1; Revelation 11:18.) When on earth, Jesus prophesied concerning our day: “And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.” (Matthew 24:14) The congregation of anointed Christians is fulfilling this commission. (1 Corinthians 9:16; Ephesians 6:15) Revelation here reveals that invisible angels are also involved in this preaching work. How often angelic guidance has been apparent in bringing one of Jehovah’s Witnesses to a home where some distressed soul was yearning, even praying, for spiritual help!

For the present, enough of those beasts! In refreshing contrast, the ninth vision focuses on the Lamb. He stands on Mount Zion, with the 144,000 that he buys as firstfruits from among mankind. Though some of these still serve on earth, in a spiritual sense all 144,000 have “approached a Mount Zion and . . . heavenly Jerusalem.” (Hebrews 12:22) Appropriately, the 24 elders are also seen here before God’s throne, for they picture the same anointed group from a different standpoint—as already raised and installed as kings and priests. The 144,000 are singing “a new song.” It stems from their unique experience in being bought from the earth to become Kingdom heirs. The great crowd also “sing to Jehovah a new song,” but this differs in that they sing in prospect of attaining to everlasting life in the earthly realm of the Kingdom.—Revelation 7:9; 14:1-5; Psalm 96:1-10; Matthew 25:31-34.

The vision now expands. John sees another angel flying in midheaven. And what glad tidings he has to proclaim! It is everlasting good news, for it means eternal life for those out of every nation and tribe and tongue and people who obey God in this hour of his judgment. In contrast with the gruesome beasts that John has just described, why should not this marvelous God be worshiped, yes, adored? He is the One who created heaven and earth. He is the Source of everything that exists, animate and inanimate. There is strong reason, then, for the angel to command in stentorian tones: “FEAR GOD AND GIVE HIM GLORY”! The voice of the angel is heard around the earth, and Jehovah’s Witnesses echo his rousing invitation to all mankind in some 200 languages.—Revelation 14:6, 7; Isaiah 45:11, 12, 18.

I think it is talking about the Bible, not Catholics, just the Bible. Do you see a Pope, a purgatory, or any deadly sins described in the Bible? Seriously, I don't think Catholicism is the Way, but I think any Christian can get Salvation as every Church uses the "everlasting gospel."

Great points! So that means that this religious institution would have to be established in the last days to fulfill this prophecy.

ISAYAH 2:2-6
2. It will come to pass IN THE LAST DAYS,that the mountain; promotion, of THE HOUSE OF YAHWEH WILL BE ESTABLISHED IN THE CHIEF OF THE NATIONS, and will be raised above all congregations; and all nations will eventually flow to it.
3. And many people will go and say; Come, and let us go up to the mountain of Yahweh, to the House of the Father of Yaaqob, and He will teach us of His ways, and we will walk in His paths. For the Law will depart from Zion, and the word of Yahweh will depart from Yerusalem.
4. He will judge among the nations, and will rebuke many people; they will beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning-hooks; nation will not lift up sword against nation, neither will they learn war anymore.
5. O house of Yaaqob, come and let us walk in the light of Yahweh.
6. You have forsaken your people, the house of Yaaqob, because they are filled with customs from the east; they are soothsayers like the Philistines, and they are pleased in the children of strangers.

Remember, prophecy is for the believers.

I don't see a religion mentioned. (The everlasting gospel was the story of Jesus life and his teachings)
