Rolling Stones, because they prevailed, even into old age. The Beatles made better music, but broke up in the prime of life and never gave us enough good reason for it...
Red Sox, because the Yankees are just too good and everyone knows they will win whenever they do. The Red Sox have that lovely Fenway Park, too, Baseball on a human scale.
Star Trek came before Star Wars, and Star Wars was to me just stealing the same idea with more special effects...

Beatles - I love a good portion of their songs and I have a deep respect for John Lennon. Rolling Stones is an awesome group, but I can't say I like more than a select few of their songs.

Yankees - I'm not a fan of either, really, but I prefer Yankees out of the two. No real reason why other than players like Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig played for them.

Star Wars - I'm a huge Star Wars fan. I like Star Trek, but nothing beats the heart and ultimate good vs evil storyline that comes from Star Wars. All three movies came out before I was born (well, technically Jedi came out 1 year after I was born), but I love them. I have collectibles, books, posters... I even met my husband via a Star Wars online game :P I absolutely loathe Episodes I-III, though - I don't count those as part of the Star Wars legacy.

Edit - Had to add "good" for good vs evil sentence.

Beatles. Don't like either of them, but at least the beatles don't play anymore and tie up traffic around local stadiums.

Yankees. My 2 least favorite baseball teams, I just happen to dislike the red sox even more.

Star Trek. I liked the first 3 star wars, but the 2nd three lost something through the years.
