Religious theists like Christians certainly think so, but they have a hard time proving it — or even just explaining how their belief is reasonable. Under other circumstances, the difficulty in supporting a belief should engender a recognition that it's reasonable to disbelieve, but that's completely denied in this case. Instead, many believers insist that not only is disbelief in their religious doctrines unreasonable but is in fact immoral. If the existence of their god were so obvious, though, shouldn't they be able to demonstrate it relatively easily?
A forum member explains how believers might prove the existence of their god:

This is so simple. It's been right under our noses all the time: a test for the existence of God.

Dominionism describes a movement among socially conservative Christians to gain influence or control over secular civil government through political action — seeking either a nation governed by Christians or a nation governed by a Christian understanding of biblical law.

I mean, they all talk so horribly about it...but as a christian, how are you being hurt if someone is gay? What damage does that do to your life?

Someone questions your political beliefs - that's ok, you might not like it, but it's ok. But don't dare question anyone's religious beliefs! What a terrible idea.
People might start questioning their own beliefs and then where would we be? In a world full of people thinking for themselves. That's where. What a horror.
But of course you can question someone else's religious beliefs and mock them all you want, just as long as no one questions yours, because, of course, yours is the True religion.

Paul states that it is better to marry than to burn with passion (1 Corinthians 7:21). What about those who cannot find a spouse because of physical deformities or mental problems?

I was raised in a strictly legalistic church. It is therefore hard for me to confess that I am not perfect. Actually, I am quite sinful. How does this square with what Jesus commanded?
I know God forgives sin but, realistically, I don't think I'll ever become "perfect". What's the use in trying?

I am an atheist and whenever I debate Christians they always come up with the argument that everything in the universe must be created by "God" .. just like looking at a watch you know it was created, so too is everything in existance.

So I always ask them - "who created God?". I have yet to get a straight answer on that question. If *everything* must have a creator ... then so too must "God".

The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree.......yeah, that makes perfect sense.

I am not religious, but a friend has read the book and says one of Noah's sons tried to get it on with Noah. This sounds a bit f****d up to me, what sort of sh*t are they writing about in this book. I may be lacking some knowledge on the subject but its enough to put me of religion.

Not all Christians take a literal view of Revelation. However, from looking at the answers on this section I am aware that there are some people who not only think the apocalypse is imminent, but can hardly wait.

Most projections of the Biblical Apocalypse have the majority of the world's population suffering great torment - often forever. Who in their right mind would look forward to that? Even if they thought their own lives were going to be all roses when it happened?

Are you really hoping for a time when most people are experiencing unbearable punishment? Can anybody who seriously answers yes be living a moral life on earth?

I am a supporter of gay rights but something has always bugged me about how advocates talk about homosexuality. There is always a discussion about if homosexuality is "natural", I think we all know it is. My question refers not to if it is natural but rather if it is something that parents should have the right to change in their child (while in the womb). Because, as I see it, homosexuality is not something that is necessarily helpful to the human race in the evolutionary sense (which, I do not mean to offend anyone, but I think that kind of qualifies it as a "hindrance")...So, what argument is there advocating the outlawing of parents being able to keep their children (through gene therapy) from being homosexual?

i really want and need HIM in my heart, i want to follow HIS path and feel his LOVE in my heart and find the PEACE...but i think GOD is displeased with my previous life of vice and sin and i really need HIM to forgive me...
Do you think HE will be able to forgive me?
I am lost and i need the light of his LOVE....
hahahahah how stupid it all sounds but it is so easy to pretend to be a christian, one just needs to capitalize some words and say love 3 or four times and that is all...voila for a few moments i was a christian...the feeling was itchy, i prefer to go back to my non christian self...
i remain gay, the religious experience has not been really fulfilling so i quit...

I really feel like God is telling me to take the next step in my Christian walk and evangelize more. Is there any good books out there to supplement the bible? I would like a book that tells you how to overcome the fear. I most afraid of evangelizing to the people I love the most. My inlaws have a muslim background but are definitley not devout Muslim. I want to eventually win them over to Christ. Any Christian out there have any suggestions?
