Dear Marcia,
Why stay ignorant of Catholicism? Why not look at some authentically Catholic books like the Catechism of the Catholic Church?

Romaphobic...I love that!

What a surprise that so few Romaphobes were honest enough to answer your question.

There are many around here who fear the Catholic Church. They are the same ones who continuously bash it and spread lies about it. And I believe that they do this out of fear and maybe even jealousy. People fear what they do not understand.

I survived Catholic school when the nuns still used yardsticks to hit your knuckles. If anyone has a right to have an irrational fear, it would be me. However, the only thing I fear now is how some churches continue to spread lies to discredit the Catholic Church. I can not tell you how many times I have answered questions about Catholics worshiping the saints and Mary or about what Pope Benedict XVI actually said (with links to prove their claims are false) only to have the questioner give best answer to someone who says "All Catholics are going to Hell" or something equally enlightening. Then the same person immediately posts the same question to spread the lie further. If I found out my church was deliberately slandering another religion, I would question my church's motives and validity. I am no longer a Catholic, I just don't suffer fools or liars.
I am sorry that my questions are now private. Shortly after I started disproving these claims, the good "Christians" began a campaign to get me knocked off by reporting my answers (which didn't violate any of the standards). I guess some people can't handle the truth. Yahoo is currently looking into it.

Considering that I *am* Catholic, I'd have to say, "No, none of the above." Or nun of the above, as the case may be. ;-)

We Catholics are accused of some pretty terrible things by those who choose to believe the lies that they've been told by others. If those people would take the time and learn the truth about what we believe and why we believe it, I think a lot of them would change their minds about us.

There will always be those who refuse to listen to the truth and prefer to believe the falsehoods they've been taught about Catholics and Catholicism. I have nothing but pity for them.

Romaphobic!!!!
If this word is not in the dictionary -- it should be!
That is fantastic!
I am Catholic, and have to say "no" to all of the above questions. Sad thing is that I have met people that are as you describe.
Peace be with you.

I've never had a problem. Hard to imagine things when I see it for myself.
When a Mass preaching the 'Good Samaritan' is evil, then i guess I will be the devil.
