Jimi Hendrix was truly a legend. Considered the best guitarrist of all times. He was crazy, but incredibly talented, yet most black people dont seem to even know who he was. This guy should be a role model for any Black in this country, because he never accepted the idea that blacks have to act a certain way or like certain things. He is the best guitarrist that ever lived.

Its not that "most black PPl dislike him" .. to be frank, I think that his music is not well known by a lot of blacks, that's all.

I do agree with you though, Jimmy IS the best guitarist ever!

Who are you to say who is a good role model for blacks, dude? And I don't know what part of the U.S. you live in, but every "Black" American I know (which is probably way more than what you know) knows who the hell Hendrix is. A good role model isn't a drug abuser, no matter what shade of color their skin maybe. His guitar skills shouldn't be played upon you pointing his race out and the current black community not knowing who he is, is a load of sh**! Come to Atlanta, GA and say that!

I used to like him back in the 70s, and yeah I heard about it. One black friend made sure I knew that most blacks didn't like him (he had a white (and pretty hot but that's besides the point) girlfriend, but anyway...). I solved the problem by getting into punk. I can agree he was a role model by not being put into a box, but that drug use came back to bite him big time.

I don't know where you're from or who you've talked to but most of the black people that I know know who jimi hendrix is, even the ones that don't like rock music. Anyways I love jimi and listen to him quite often.

uh, I think you need to find some kind of proof for your false statement. Every Black person I know in my generation knows Jimi Hendrix and every older Black person I know, knows who he is. Maybe a few (but not all) of these younger kids that's not into that genre or our music history may not know but you cannot say that most Black people don't know. Please if you can't back it up then shut it up. And do not try to use YA as a reference for proof.

I have nothing against Jimi Hendrix. I agree that he was the greatest guitarist of all time and that he was a little loony but I certainly don't dislike him.

your question was full of opinion when i think it was supposed to be fact. learn how to ask a question and try again. oh and by the way, many blacks may not know exactley who jimi hendrix is because they were listening to bob marley at the time...the true role model of blacks.

he was the greatest guiterist that ever lived, however he was heavily addicted to drugs, and thats why most of his music was loved because not only was he high but so was most of his audience.and its not just blacks that dont know about him, so please try not generalize in the future!
