Without any doubt, the New Testament is crystal clear in its opposition to the death penalty. Killing is wrong. We must love our enemies. We are to return aggression and hostility with love, forgiveness, and kindness. We are not to judge others either.

There's just no way that the Bible can be used to justify a policy of capital punishment. It was allowed in the Old Testament, but it is totally turned upside down in the New Testament.

Well, yes, I guess I will. I could just reply, “Well, you won’t be a believer when you’re not burning in hell.” But that somehow lacks the punch of a truly powerful answer. If I “wake up” in hell, whatever that is, I expect that would be enough evidence for me to become a believer. And it may seem odd or even unfair that, if the Christian is right, he and I will presumably both find out that he is right, while not the opposite. (If the secular humanist/atheistic position is the right one, neither secular humanist nor Christian will “find out” anything after death.) But no one should mistake such a point for evidence that counts in favor of the believer being right.

There are debates about EVERYTHING when it comes to quality vs. quantity. If I had 10 cheap, simple Bibles, would that be any better than 1 expensive, elegent Bible; or vice versa?

I really can't put what I'm trying to say to words correctly, so, bear with me, people.

Basically... Okay. I'm Pagan (Eclectic). I feel that, hey, I have my own personal experience with the Divine which shapes the way I portray it in my mind's eye. I feel that it is impossible to have the exact same concept of the Divine among two people, even twins, because of different interactions.

I also feel that Atheists (yes, I capitalized the "a", I expect to be hearing from you guys for that) have an interaction with the Divine through another name, a la Science.

And I feel and respect everyone for having their own experience in their own way.

... but why can't some people just get off other people's backs when it comes to how they view the Divine? Can't they just say, "Hey, that's cool, you experience the Divine through Allah, God, G-d, Yahweh, Zues, Loki, Danu, Artemis, Aphrodite, Luna, Science, etc., and I'm glad your connection with it is strong?"

Exactly what is the difference between intellect, knowledge, and wisdom. I would argue:

1. Intellect: mental horse power
2. Knowledge: accumulation of information
3. Wisdom: Right application if intellect and knowledge into action.

What would your definition be?

I didn't know anything about Mormons until I got HBO and was able to see, "Big Love" and it's companion documentary. But those Mormons live on compounds.

Pleeeez don't say that FLDS live on compunds and LDS live on wards because that doesn't answer my question does it?

Joseph Smith was giving a "revalation" to practice polygamy in 1843. In 1844 was charged with adultery and under oath said the following:

"What a thing it is for a man to be accused of committing adultery, and having seven wives, when I can ony find one." -History of the Church vol. 6, p 411.

"As we have lately been credibly informed, that an Elder of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, by the name of Hirum Brown, has been preaching polygamy, and other false and corrupt doctrines, in the county of Lapeer, state of Michigan.

This is to notify him and the church in general, that he as been cut off from the church, for his iniquity; and he is further notified to appear at the Spiecal Conference on the 6th of April next, to make answer to these charges."

My husband and i have nothing but realyl bad luck since we got married. All 4 of our tires were stolen, a tractor crashed into our new house, our new house has a bad leak which created mold, my husband accidentally bumped the water pipe on the outside of the house and it busted WIDE open, and recently my husband almost drownd on the guadalupe river. EMS had to save him, i realize this was actually LUCK b/c he survived w/o a scratch, just sore. But we have run out of sane reasons for bad things to happen, so maybe there is a curse? What can we do? i don't care if it's just an old wives tale or whatever, we will try it!

We do not think he is God, nor is he better then us. He is like the president of the church only we do not get to vote. Everything needs order that includes ORGANIZED religion.

There's a waterstain (it looks like a ghost) under the expressway near my house and there was some religious who-haa about it. People (mostly latinos) came from miles around to pray and give flowers and light candles and whatnot. It was all over the news and was very serious.

Now, some time has passed and I never see anyone there. There is a shrine of plastic flowers and a grouping of long burned out candles. The waterstain is still there.

Do you think it was wrong for these people to abandon "Our Lady of Lime Deposit" like that?

This wasn't something I was born with, but developed after experiencing hormonal problems. The area on my nose looks odd, and I want to get rid of it..but nothing has worked. Now, I just want to cover it up. I'm not getting it for any other reason, and when I was younger..I did not have this problem. So, I wouldn't be changing what Allah swt naturally gave to me.
